I know I am going to get a lot of flak for this but I just don't get him.

I guess it will be great when he wins American Idol because he will probably be the first openly gay winner. But....

I find him completely theatrical and self indulgent. I feel he isn't genuine.

Ultimately, I don't think he will sell many records.....

    But he will win.

    What do you think?

I think he's fantastic, and brings some originality to a mediocre show.

Check out his youtube performances from prior years - same kind of energy, so I don't see the 'I feel he isn't genuine' side of things at all.

    GO ADAM!

Yes and that is another thing. He was in the LA cast of Wicked prior. Doesn't that make him.....a professional, not an amateur?
What exactly are the rules for being able to audition for American Idol?

I thought people who win American Idol go on to theater productions and Broadway....not the other way around.

Is this a test in anger management Silver?icon_twisted.gif

Actually, I agree that Adam is difficult to peg but I still love this guy. He sings songs very well with exceptional moments of stunning sensitivity that have made the odd tear well in my eyes.

I wish I could hear him cover "Believe", entirely and not just a couple verses. That is what hooked me on this guyliner dude.

Will he win? I don't think so.

I'm thinking he'll be the Hillary Clinton of American Idol. I'm keeping me eye on that red haired girl. She is personable, powerful, confident and a damn good performer.

My boyfriend thinks he's the cat's meow. I like Adam Lambert a lot, but I like Gokey as a person the best. The red-haired girl (any Linus fans out there?) is great, and I think she'll be in the top three for sure.

I know that I will probably not buy any Gokey records. I can't help but like him, though. Every performance sounds great.

Adam will have an awesome career. He must bust out with a real power song if he's going to lock it up. Something by Steve Tyler, Robert Plant, Freddie Mercury, and after last week I was totally wishing he'd sung more lead on the Journey song, by Steve Perry. "Turn Me Loose" by Loverboy has an ungodly wail by lead singer Mike Reno (in this video below he's OLD and can still hit it!), and if I heard that, I know it would be all over.

I've already bought an Adam Lambert song on iTunes, so I guess that tells you how I feel about his marketability.

Adam is really great, but in the end, hate to say it, but the "because he's gay" anti-vote may do him in. I've purchased each of his downloads from iTunes and listen regularly. He's extremely talented and has the potential to sell tons of records. He's magazine-cover marketable, too.

I've bought each of Danny's downloads, too and listen to them incessantly. His studio version of "What Hurts the Most" is seriously just amazing to me.

I'd buy each of their albums the first day they're released, I can guarantee that.

I do not like Allison (red haired girl) at all. When she sings it's almost tortuous how laborious it looks for her and I just can't listen to her voice. I know she's very popular, but not for me. I don't think it's a coincidence she's been in the bottom 3 twice already.

Who'll win? It's seriously a toss-up between Adam and Danny. Two very different audiences for each.

I watched AI last night because it ran late and I was waiting for Fringe to start. I thought he had a nice voice and did that song well.

He's an amazing performer and can do things like Freddie Mercury. I don't think (hope not anyway) that his being gay will get in the way. It hasn't hindered George Michael, Elton John, Freddie Mercury or Melissa Etheridge. I think people will either like him or not. It may be better for his career if he doesn't win as he will have more freedom. Gokey and the redhead are also good and should be the top 3. Tough call now since they have several strong contenders. Fingers crossed for Adam.

    I didn't know that he's gay.

I think, though he's very polished and perhaps hasn't 'paid his dues", the guy has one of the most able and flexible voices I've ever heard. If he doesn't do Freddie Mercury before the competition is over, it will be a crime.

I think Adam Lamber has a phenominal voice and I look forward each week just to see what he will do. With all the talk about Danny and Adam and Allison, I am surprised no one has mentioned Kris Allen, the guitar playing hottie...He can sing, but I was really blown away when he sang 'Ain't No Sunshine' and I think he is the dark horse of this year's competition. And though alot of people didn't like his rendition of Johnny Cash's 'Ring of Fire', but I loved it. I do think that if Adam is found in the bottom 3 at anytime and is the one with the lowest votes, he will be the one the judges save.

the song he sang last night was great, his higher range, made my hair stand on end. and in a good way, doesn't happen often with music.

I saw him performing at Mark's Upright Cabaret in West Hollywood a few times before. He has an amazing voice and charisma on stage for sure.

Adam seems to have it all; a great voice, good stage presences, confidence without arrogance.
He is the clear winner from a talent point of view but lets see how the voting public reacts.

I've heard people mention the Elvis similarities before, but when I saw Adam sitting on stage in that suit with the slicked back hair, the first thought that went through my head was "OMG, he's become k d lang!"

Adam reminds me of Josh Groban. He sings every song from the heart which adds special meaning to them. Adam will be the next or already is the next pop icon.

I disagree with you about him selling records. He's the first American Idol since Kelly Clarkson that I could totally see myself buying an album from... especially if his songs are like Mad World and ring of Fire
