I don't know about everyone else, but I feel better in a freshly cleaned apartment.

I think it's more about the activity and a feeling of productivity.

I agree! But, I'd say shopping has been an option for me on a dreary day. I think I've done well to control it over the last two years. And yes, Timberoo, it's much better than eating!

When I'm depressed/stressed I take a nap, which is probably the worst thing to do in this situation - if you go over 20-25 minutes, you wake up feeling worse than before.

Of course, I was dropped on my head. Nine times. Yesterday.

Shopping does it for me. And so does a six-pack of Bud Lite.

Cleaning is the last thing I want to do when I am depressed. Of course it is not near the top of my list when I am not depressed either.
Shopping doesnt help because I get buyers remorse almost immediatly. Sometimes I even get it before I get to the cashier, which is good because then I don't buy it.

I eat junk and act out inappropriatly sexually online.
Going to the gym helps, but its tough because I don't want to get off the couch.

i handle depression with exercise (the healthy route) and shopping (the decidedly unhealthy route). sometimes with food (on par with shopping). but hey, whatever gets the job done.

I think it works because it is usually an investment in yourself, or at least a way to get distractions out of the way in order to focus on you.

Same. I deal with depression by sleeping.

    I hate shopping, and I can't stand housework. icon_confused.gif

I put on my favorite white tshirt, brew coffee and clean my apt while listening to my french language CD's.. I usually don't drink it unless it's early, but I love the way it smells and it always makes me happy.

Sometimes you just need to wind yourself up to feel better, and at the same time, productive...

Retail therapy always works for me. So does extreme housecleaning, but working out does the job well too.

    How to Deal with Depression:

    first line of defense:
    - listen to Julie Andrews singing in a train station while joining in to a choreographed dance routine.

    second line of defense:
