So Madam O is now supposed to save the fashion industry that has snubbed black women all these years. Should she or shouldn't she???

It has been reported that Donna Karan, Oscar de la Renta and Vera Wang to name a few are incensed that Mrs. O is not helping their fashion houses in these difficult economic times:

Donna Karan is reported to have said that Mrs. O’s flirtation with “niche designers like relatively obscure U.S. designers Jason Wu, Isabel Toldeo and Thakoon Panichgul was only temporary and that she would return to her senses

Ms. Wang said she loved seeing young designers and their vision and how they grow and all of that.On the other hand, of course, I wish she would consider some of us.

I say frig em! I prefer to see her help an up and coming new designer anyhowicon_exclaim.gif

Perhaps a more fundamental question to RJ is: why should we care?

I think that it is great that she wears J Crew and shows people that you dont have wear those designers to look good.

My fashion sense only goes so far and then I cant see any difference, I guess.

I agree with you there. Who da hell made these the arbiters of taste and style anyhoo?

I wonder if these same designers don't think there's something amiss in charging charging $15,000-25,000.00 for some silly dress. Especially in these economic times...

    I care about men's fashions, not women's.

Hmmm I was looking at pictures of her the other day, and all I thought was: she needs a new stylist. Who let her wear that?

Its not exactly her obligation to "save the fashion industry"...as long as she does her job and looks ok doing it, it doesn't matter whether she wears Sears or Versace. Also...in these times when most people are learning to live without certain luxuries, I think its kinda cool that she isn't spending wild amounts of money on her wardrobe...kinda says to me "I know what you're going through...I'm in this with you"
