I've got a million of them. But this one is one of the best pop songs of the 1990's: REM - The Sidewinder Sleeps Tonite (From 1993's Automatic For The People).

    Fantastic song.

I'll always have a soft spot for Waterfalls by TLC. I will always remember the Left Eye portion of that song.

Being Boring by the Pet Shop Boys.

Deeply meaningful lyrics and a video shot by the famous Bruce Weber that is still stunning:

(Embedding of the video is disabled, so you'll have to click the link).

With all the loss the gay community was going through in the '80s and '90s, these lyrics always hit hard:

Now I sit with different faces
In rented rooms and foreign places
All the people I was kissing
Some are here and some are missing
    In the nineteen-nineties
I never dreamt that I would get to be
The creature that I always meant to be
But I thought in spite of dreams
Youd be sitting somewhere here with me

As long as we're being instructive here....how about this? Whenever someone responds to someone's post by using the QUOTE function, how about doing a little editing so that we don't have to look at the same videos or cat pics fourteen times? It's really simple to edit that part out, leaving the text of their post intact.
Just a thought...it'll be ignored just like my post last year about not having your AutoPlay turned on in your profile. That can be annoying...or embarrassing ....just ask ATM87 (see "I got busted" forum)

I caught this late one night on MTV and thought it was just great.....not the best singing nor lyrics, just catchy. Sorry, video embedding disabled by the owner, BMG records....
(ok, ok....so it was late 80s.....sue me!)

I went a little nuts in the 80's song list so I'll try to limit myself to five.

Songs that completely blew me away the first time I heard them:
Tori Amos - Silent All These Years
    The Cranberries - Linger

Not the best songs by these artists, but I probably wouldn't have known about them without these being hits:
    Beck - Where It's At
    Cake - The Distance
    Radiohead - Creep

I'll list the bands/artists I listened to in school, not songs. I'm assuming this is limited to the mainstream music. And this is actually not strictly from the 90's, but more like late 90's, early 2000's, the time I was in high school There are more 90's music I discovered later on, but I won't include them. Also this was before I discovered other genres. I was still mostly Alternative back then:

    Shades Apart
    Oasis
    Tantric
    The Calling
    Dishwalla
    The Wallflowers
    Our Lady Peace
    Puddle of Mudd
    Santana
    Uncle Kracker
    Spin Doctors
    Sugar Ray
    Nirvana
    The Offspring
    Smashing Pumpkins
    Better Than Ezra
    Barenaked Ladies
    Swirl 360
    Semisonic
    Everclear
    Red Hot Chili Peppers
    Garbage
    LinkinPark
    Green Day
    Eve 6
    Marcy Playground
The Presidents of the United States of America
    Save Ferris
    Smashmouth
    Fastball
    Edwin McCain
    Jars of Clay
    Sixpence None The Richer
    Lit
    Wheatus
    Counting Crows
    Eagle Eye Cherry
    Everlast
    Vertical Horizon
    The Androids
    Three Doors Down
    Lifehouse
    Collective Soul
    Third Eye Blind
Matchbox Twenty (before they all went hollywood and sucked)
    Foo Fighters
    Nine Days
    Incubus
    etc.

And a few I absolutely hated:

    Blink 182
    LimpBizkit
