Have any of you clicked onto the Progressive Insurance Banner Advertisement on the RJ page, it features an antique sepia photo of two men. The campaign is "It is difficult being ahead of your time" I believe the the title. It then shows several antique photos of men. I do not know if they were all lovers, some could be brothers, but I thought they were interesting. Have any of you looked at them and what were your thoughts?

"Being ahead of your time is never easy" is the actual tag line, FYI.

The ad banner has been on my opening page every time and everyday for the last week or more. I assumed it was on everybody else's page as well. Maybe since you are in Australia it is different, some banners are regional.

Anyway maybe the pictures are on the progressive website, I will check it out and let you know. The photos are interesting though. I have never seen any like them before.

well sorry I do not have any helpful info on view the pictures if they are not on your opening or other RJ pages. I checked out the website, but did not see a link or any info on the pics or the campaign. I did a google search as well and did not find it. It is obviously targeted to the gay male, hence the content of the pictures, but it is odd that you cannot find them or a link on their general website - there maybe a link, but I did not find it.

I have seen link like this before, they appear to be inclusive of a market, but do not want the advertisements visible on the main site for the general population. Again, they may have a link, but I did not see it.

Anyway, I did enjoy viewing the photos. I low tech guy, so if anybody else can or knows how to post any of the pictures, then please do, there are about 7 pictures or men couples from say 1890 -1920 per say.

I see them, so you're not seeing things. ;)

The one I see says "Living up to your name, now that's Progressive."

I thought they're pretty interesting too, and I appreciate all the companies that are advertising on RJ. Hopefully other site users are smart enough to actually support these advertisers, when considering how truly heinous companies like ExxonMobil are to their GLBT employees.

Progressive is a very GLBT supportive company. $100,000 was donated on their behalf to the "No on 8" campaign by the president of the company's son. I wrote them a letter of thanks, and am happy to be insured by them.

Their recent TV ad features a couple of guys that are ambiguously gay.

Or they could be just hetero dude bro roommates. icon_lol.gif

I have the ads turned off so I don't see them, but I know Progressive is a very GLBT friendly company and received a very high rating from the HRC company index score card.

I clicked through the ads and found it is just a way to draw people into getting a quote. The click through doesn't say much else about the photos. They are cool and would like to know more about who they are, but as far as I can tell it's just a way to draw homosexuals into their corporate website for a quote.

Although the click through page does have a section on the lower third of the screen mentioning how they have been first (and as their name implies, more progressive than other insurance companies) in issues related and unrelated to homosexuals.

It is a different kind of campaign, but would be more interesting and effective, I think if they had more information on the men they depict.

I was intrigued by the photos when I saw them on meetgaycouples.com, so I did a Google search. You might find this book review interesting on the International Gay & Lesbian Review website. It is about a book called "Picturing Men." http://gaybookreviews.info/review/3154/1003

    I'm a supporter, so I don't see most ads.

Shame though, sounds like a good one...
