I think it's great that as of late, RealJock has refreshed it's position on guys losing weight with the Weight Loss Challenge and the members have reached out with various threads on the subject, but I see a trend developing that I do not like in pertinence to all of this.

Why, when regular (jocky) guys join the site and sometimes create introduction threads, they just say something to the effect of "Hi, I'm here....great guys on this site...yadda yadda....howdy, etc", but when bigger guys, (your less fit for the time being have lost a lot of weight or just beginning) do a thread like this, it is always, Fat Ass Delurking....exsqueeze me?

To delurk, you have to be lurking in the first place and being here partaking of the eye candy on parade that is RealJock, that is not lurking (because everyone here does it), especially if here for more than that like fitness tips and such. I just got the vibe that these "fat asses" thought they were some how "less than" just by bein here. That is bull. If gym is gay church then it definitely behooves us to rally the fallen. icon_lol.gif In that vein, it means, ya'll are welcome so no need to be so modest. So you found yourself in a bad way, SO WHAT, does not a lurker or a fat ass make.

You had to look yourself in the mirror and find fault in your body and along with that, find fault in your lifestyle and take corrective measures. That isn't easy, especially when everyone programs themselves not to do that.

If anyone here calls you a FAT ASS or makes you feel the need to call yourself one, kill that person in your mind, he is not worth your time.

You bigger guys bein here around all of these gym bodies, that takes courage so no way are you less than. You've got guts and what's more, you are going for what it is you want in the face of adversity; that should be commended. Not, "I'm a fat ass, please don't treat me bad, real jocks." I'm willing to bet you've got bigger stones than some of these big ole gurls here anyway.

Ooops, I did what one member here that I know of hates: I made a statement and failed to ask a question. Well, it did puzzle me how long we'd let guys call themselves names in public posts. Am I the only guy that bothers?

I honestly gave little thought to the title of my post.

It isn't so much that I'm a fat-ass now, as I truly was at the start of my journey. Sure, now I'm in the middle of a progress curve; I eat right and hit the gym six times a week. But before I pulled my head out of my ass, I really did sit around all day on my fat ass munching food like a bovine. So, really more a reflection of where I was, than rather where I am.

It is true that is you're fat and here on RealJock, you are very likely to be in the progress of dumping the weight, or at least, starting to. I agree.

However, I'm not really seeking permissive acceptance from the muscle bunnies. If they want to treat me bad or view me poorly for not being magically in shape at this moment in time, so be it. They can choke on it (or rather, be denied the wonderful experience of choking on it). I'm nearly as committed as I can be, and going nearly as fast as I can go, so what else is there to say, but to condemn my actions of the past that got me fat, which I've already condemned myself and eradicated?

Finally, the reason for me making that thread post, again, wasn't so much a request to be welcomed by the 'true' jocks, as much as it was another reconfirmation that I'm doing what I need to do, and I'm still heading in the right direction. Being fat my entire life, it's occasionally difficult to believe that I'm actually losing weight and making gains in the gym, so I find it good to remind myself and reaffirm what I'm doing.

And if I'm lurking over people's hot pictures, that's certainly your fault GuiltyGear... mmmmm

I think the point here by by GG is probably true, I'd agree with the premise.

RJ is a site for all those who value exercise and nutrition. To me it doesn't matter if you are a novice/beginner, or someone who has been a "gym bod" for years. What makes the person more less accepted as a member is their behavior on forums.. their behavior toward others.

I don't give a damn is someone is overweight or a "specimin". All should be welcomed and encouraged.
