Fasting + Workout

Has anyone else ever worked out while fasting. At first you get light-headed but then it's kind of an adrenaline rush. Is this healthy? And if it is then is it a good way to shred and get more defined. I don't mean I'm not eating at all i'm just eating significantly less. I've got the muscle size/mass already but i'm looking to get really cut. Thoughts?

P.S. I realize this probably belongs with the fitness threads but I need an answer soontime.

There are certain days of the year I have to fast. I specifically DO NOT workout on those days or the day after.

As you enter ketosis you get dingy.

Nothing slows your metabolism and compromises muscle better than fasting.

It teaches your body how to be a fat-storing machine.

    The premise goes beyond idiotic.

Cultural, but similar. For me it's in honor of those who wanted to for religious reasons, but could not.

I would just eat. Your presumably being healthy for yourself..right?

In my 20's,(again), I would not eat all day on Friday and do a killer workout at night before the bar. All this just to have a totally flat stomach.icon_rolleyes.gif

My very dramatic lesbian friend lectured me sternly when she found out. Her exact words," Sweetie pie, that will be the day that I starve myself for some one night stand when the fucker likely will never call back again. Grab a brain and give your head a shake...Sweetie Pie.".

    Eat, it's o.k. and you'll still become cut with a good weight/cardio program.icon_biggrin.gif

I'm not religious at all. Sometimes I fast and drink a lot of water to cleanse by body of toxins. Other times it's because I can't afford food (I am a student after all). Food is my first love so I think that I eat too much sometimes and a lot of it is unavoidably processed food. Organic or natural foods are so much more expensive.

either way man, its not healthy. Manage your money properly and get a part time job. You're not the first student with economic problems. Just take care of yourself and dont go fasting just because others can.

Please see this thread on cheap eating tips.

Detox seems like a lot of bullshit to me anyway.

Not eating, for any reason (other than you're sick and can't keep anything down), is stupid.
Starving yourself won't get you to heaven (whatever that is).
If you want to lose weight, work out hard with heavy weights.
If that doesn't do the trick, add something aerobic.
Starving yourself is counter productive because it puts your body in emergency, preservation mode, storing as much fat as possible.
