I will surely get back to Ohio to visit the family and of course Cedar Point. New York City is on the list as well.

Ideally, I'd take a week or two trip overseas too - would LOVE to hit up Japan, Afirca, Ireland or Germany. Actually, anywhere outside of the US.

A week in July in Provincetown! It's not Rome or Paris, but what a good time you can have!
It's not just the eye candy or the beach or the seafood that's so wonderful, but also the fact that you can know what it's like to walk down the street and be in the majority.

I just did some major traveling through Europe with the 'rents. In 2 weeks we covered...

    Saarbr├╝cken
    Trier / Luxemburg
    Paris
    Ireland (Galway, Limerick, Blarney, Dublin)
    Vienna
    Salzburg
    Munich

If I had to recommend one place, I'd say go to Dublin! Absolutely beautiful country. The Cliffs of Moher are absolutely breathtaking and Dublin has a pretty good gay night life, if you're into it. Then again, any city with a high population of outed gays is a breath of fresh air to me... :p

Also, Blarney Castle and the surrounding gardens are stunning. I could have spent hours there.

If you just want to go some place quiet, may I suggest Zwickau, Saxony, Germany. Lovely little town, not much to do there, but rest and enjoy sitting in the cafes around the town square. But if you get antsy, you can get off to Leipzig, Dresden, or Prague.

Another place I enjoyed a lot was Lutherstadt Wittenberg. I stayed there for several days so I could enjoy the locale and not just "ok, the church door Luther nailed his 95 theses on: check" and on to the next tourist attraction. The people were fantastic. Back in 2005, they were just beginning to realize the tourist potential of their famous town and there still wasnt much to help an English speaking tourist...I loved that....had to speak German or I was out of luck...icon_biggrin.gif....and just having to upgrade the sewer system to handle the increase requirements. ... icon_lol.gif

And from Wittenberg, it was easy to pop down to Naumberg...No English spoken that I could find. And what's in Naumberg some may ask....

    Ekkehard and Uta...

This summer definitely Barbados in August and maybe a short trip to New England to get outdoors with some friends at some point.

I generally think of vacations as fitting into 3 categories:

    Outdoors
    Historical/Cultural
    Relaxation

The place I've been to that managed to fit into all three of these categories was Puerto Rico. It's easy (and relatively inexpensive) to get to, is in the US so you don't need a passport/visa etc, and everything is fairly close together so you don't have to schlep far to get to the mountains, the town or the beach.

I loved exploring Old San Juan and Ponce and the San Juan night life was quite active as well. Hiking in El Yunque and the visiting the karst country was like stepping into Jurassic Park (minus the dinosaurs) and spending time at Luquillo Beach and on the small neighboring Island of Culebra was extremely relaxing.

Granted places like Australia and India, even the US, also have all these things, but to do all of them requires long plane rides from one end of the country to the other, whereas in Puerto Rico it was all within driving distance. So, that's my suggestion if you're looking for a good place that has everything.

I think people should vacation in the Turks and Caicos this summer. icon_smile.gif It'd be nice to have some gay guys on the island for a change. Besides, who wouldn't love this scenery?

Ok, so this may not be exactly paradise, but my b/f and I will be going to one of our favorite midwest spots this summer. If you are anywhere near Wisconsin, you could check out the Rainbow Valley Resort near the Wisconsin Dells. We never have much time to get away so we like to spend most of our time relaxing. They have a pool, cold cheap drinks, and decent rooms. I heard it was closing, but judging by the newly updated website they may be under new management. We brought some snacks and drinks of our own, so we literally parked the car Friday and stayed 'till Sunday without a care! (Ps. I don't work there; this is not an advertisement. And if you are expecting luxury/first class you should look elsewhereicon_smile.gif

I'm definitely with skifan08 on the outdoors criteria for travel! And if halltd is putting out the invite to visit Turks and Caicos, I'd be up on that offer; the water looks great for scuba diving!

My travel plans for the summer so far include

    April - Atlanta
    May/June - Denver
    June - Florida Keys
July - Florida Keys (again, have to go lobster diving this go round =)

I'm sure more will get added on spur of the moment decisions, but this is what is planned so far.

To everyone else that has travel plans this summer, have fun and safe travels!

I'm going to Mexico next week for a week, then hopefully taking a family vacation for a few days at the end of June, and then I'm moving to China in July! So I'm hoping there will be plenty of opportunities to travel around while I'm over there.

Turks and Caicos has some of the nicest beaches and best diving in the world. So, if you like diving, you should definitely check it out!!

My plans - mostly will be here working - anyone wants to brave the 40+ heat of Abu Dhabi in the summer is welcome

Will make a quick get away to Barcelona and maybe Malta or somewhere else in the med. Hoping for some weekend trysts somewhere in SE Asia or maybe Istanbul - anyone travelling in these areas over summer and interested in meeting?
