Die for Bush? If I'm not mistaken, USCG stands for United States Coast Guard. As far as I know, the Coast Guard isn't sent off to fight foreign wars.

who said anyhting about dying for bush, the coast guard defends our coast and unless the war comes to our soil i wont be fighting in the war, plus if i where to die in the line of duty it would be for my country not for some idiotic president. If I die in the line of duty it will most likely be on a search and rescue mission or trying to stop a drug run. The United States Coast Guard is more of a humanitarian branch of the military, we are the "everyday heros", we are the maritime law enforcement, the maritime safety, marine enviroment protection, maritime mobility and national defense. Our core values are Honor, Respect and Devotion to Duty. so next time you try to speak out against the Coast Guard or any branch of the military, do a little research first, because you'll end up lookin like an ass again.

Xpreso, Don't listen to them. You will be protecting your country and that is a noble endeavor. We may have a bad administration now, but that will change as long as men like you defend the rest of us.

    Thank you for serving.

Congrats Bud. Coing from a war-vet and ad soldier, I'm proud of ya.

One thing though. Whatever your recruiter told you, CG ships do go to war. Several have been to Iraq and neighboring waters. And the Navy has guys on the ground in Iraq and Afganistan, but I've never seen any Coasties there, so you should be safe. Enjoy Basic and good luck.

Good call, man. I've been in 10 years and it's a pretty cool job. Nothing like a successful SAR case. What rate do you plan on going? Airdale is the only way to go IMHO.

Don't let the few ignorant people on here try and tell you a bunch of political bs. They obviously don't understand that the Coast Guard is the jack of all trades. Everything from environmental protection to law enforcement and yes we are over in Iraq, on the water and land (and at one time in the air). Whatever your choice, be proud of yourself especially for representing the community in the military. Not alot can hack it.

Any questions, just shoot me a mail.

PS Airdale is the way to go!

Congratulations, Xpreso. It's great seeing someone live for something bigger than himself.

I have one question that may sound silly. But does DADT apply for guys in the USCG? Would your pic/profile on this site put you at risk of being tossed?

Just a question ... I really do admire you, and wish you all the best.

Hey I'm in the ARMY and I don't really feel like I'm at risk! I mean why would a straight person be browsing through this site anyway!? icon_question.gif I am at work right now and I'm on the site! But no matter what you still have to be careful!
