Just curious...... it is really difficult for me to come up with a number.

Maybe someone from RealJock will chime in with the correct answer icon_biggrin.gif

I think I would guess only 10 to 15 percent,

    What do you think?

My experience with forums on different sites tells me that participation is far less than 10%.

Good question. I'm new here so I would kind of like to know how active it is.

jprichva saidThere are over 200,000 separate accounts on RJ (though probably some fair number of duplicates) and I'd guess far less than 2000 regular posters. So....1%?

If we define "regularly" as once a week or more, then, I would guess about 3%

I would have no idea. I know you can view the forums without being a member. I have noticed the number of views to threads seem high before anyone has posted a reply. At least the ones I start.

Also, Google indexes the forums. So some/most of those page views are probably web crawlers.

I read them more than I post on them. Some people just may read them to see what's going on.

And now I am googling to figure out what a web crawler is! Sounds disturbing....

Right off hand, I can think of about 20 regular posters. Seeing when I sign on that there are some 165,000+ profiles, I would venture to say that would translate into about less than 1/2 a percentage pointage point, even when taking into acoount the views. Of course, it could also be counted like the voting on A.I. and DWTS where you can vote multiple times and here there are thread starters who answer every post to their thread. I still think not as many as one might think.

Clearly the percentage is small. For example, haven't you noticed that most of the guys who view your profile aren't ones you recognize from the forums?

    Genius question.

    Yes, about 10%.

Has anyone noticed that only about ten percent of readers post in a forum topic? I.e. 100 post readers = 10 comments.

I would say there are several ways to evaluate this...

Verified members & non verified members.

The percentage is very low. I would say of "Non Verified members", maybe about 1.5 to 2.0%

Of those who are verified, I would say its about 7 or 8%.

What makes you think that these same guys aren't looking at forum threads, but not posting on them?

You're underestimating the magnetic pull of the forums. To read them is to want to post on them!
