The rise is always to long, the legs are always too long or too short and they are usually too baggy. Damn my stubby legs.

I don't know why it's so hard to make a pair of shorts that look good on a guy. I have one old pair of cargo shorts that I got from Lands End, years ago, that I wear a lot. And, it's impossible to find another pair like them.

I hear you Tim.... there are certain shorts I like and some I'd rather just pass.
The good thing is, I bought quite a number of those I like and am set for this coming season....

Beyond that, its probably back to the shopping grind (which I hate when I don't know what I'm going to like).

All my shorts are from last year and they are all too big. It seems like every pair I saw yesterday were for guys 6'+ who want shorts to cover their knees, for old men who like elastic waists or for golfers who want shorts that look like khakis.

I hear ya! I'm a little guy, so shorts on me are usually far too long/baggy, which looks silly and makes me look even shorter. I have found a bit of luck at the "teen" stores such as Blue Notes, or at H&M which tends to have more Euro sizes/styles. I was at H&M the other day and they had some shorts thats actually looked TOO small. It's a breath of a fresh air really from that baggy trashy look lol.

This baggy shorts trend won't go away till the next generation. The generation that grows up seeing their fathers wearing baggy shorts.

You just need to shop where the current generation doesn't, Tim. icon_smile.gif

    I like the Washed Duck/Denim Work/Trade shorts.

Right now the style of all the makers is that shorts go to the knees
Unfortunately, if your thighs are relatively short compared to the rise of the shorts they will hang past the knees
The only sloution for that is to hem the shorts a bit

Yeah, I stocked up several years ago on some good shorts. They lasted up until last summer. Now there's nothing left in my closet but a few odd-ball ones that don't fit or I otherwise hate, and hence haven't worn out.

May be time to bring back cut-offs.

You can always opt to have your shorts altered. Most dry cleaners do alterations.

solution for replacing ill-fitting baggy shorts:

    1. Go to a thrift store and find some pants that fit your waist with a cool pattern you like.

    2. Hem them at desired length.

    3. Repeat until you have enough shorts.

**i've found that a lot of the pants are cut slimmer than shorts, so you get a better fit around your legs and booty.
