Anyone have any reasonably priced hotels in Miami...I'm just staying a night so I don't need anything fancy, but I've never been to Miami and wouldn't mind being in the middle of it all [and I understand the price will be commensurate with proximity]...

...I'm jumping down there to help my sister plan a wedding [no comments on how gay that sounds] and will be there a night before she arrives...

    your thoughts are helpful!

I'm partial to the Clay Hotel. GREAT price and you are totally in the middle of the action!

You'll basically want to stay on or around Collins or Ocean because that is where all the action is at. And make sure your hotel is in Miami Beach/South Beach. Don't stay in downtown Miami because there's nothing there.

Because of the economy, there are great hotel deals to be found. I'm partial to the Catalina. The Pelican and Delano are neat, but expensive. But there are tons of cheaper options in the Art Deco/Ocean Drive area. They are pretty much all the same. Check out expedia or hotels.com for deals.

ah thanks...the Catalina looks fun...and something that white, MIGHT actually make me look tan!

Well are u saying Miami or Miami Beach? Miami Beach I know - can recommend the Townhouse at 20th & Collins for a reasonably priced hotel. Greenview also reasonable a half block north of Lincoln Road on Washington Ave. Note these two places do NOT have pools. I stayed at Catalina six years ago (2003) when it was a $59 a nite (in season mid March!!) flophouse. The day I arrived they were carting a body out of the hotel (seriously!). A maintenance guy I asked on the sly said he was mid -20s, rooming alone, had no obvious signs of injuries or drugs but he said he had a wealth of muscle mags in the room. Looked at the Miami Herald for days after for a report but nada! Which isnt surprising cause they prob wanna deepsix the tourist deaths!
