    Hey Guys,

So I didn't have the Nike + adapter for my run today so I opted to try out the RunKeeper free edition for the iPhone and man is it awesome.

In contrast to Nike+ it blows the shit out of the water. It maps your distance using the 3G iphone's gps and uploads the run directly to runkeeper.com

I am really impressed with the amount of detail it presents in contrast to Nike +! The only downside was running with the iPhone in my hand, so I am going to have to get that armband for the phone.

If you have an iPhone and you run, check it out.

I totally sounded like a tool plugging this program but it really is that good!

I have it as well, and I love it too. Makes recording my distance sooo easy. The arm band is definately a must.

The reviews I'm reading about it says that it eats up battery life really fast. Have you guys found that to be true or not?

I've never noticed actually. But I have a alarm clock dock for mine that I also use for music during the day so I never get close to a dead battery. It would make sense that it probabaly would eat up some battery life, but that's the price I guess.

Im a little slow sometimes but how do you keep the phone from going to screen saver and stopping the app? I have imapmyrun and it stops tracking when the phone goes "to sleep"

Wow, I just used it for the first time and it IS really cool. I like all the detail it gives.

I turned off my wi-fi which probably helped battery life. Still burned through about two-thirds of it on an hour and a half ride. I'm taking along a device that charges anything that can plug into a USB port, so if the battery gets close to dead, I'll plug it into that and recharge on the fly.

Thanks for the recommendation! It's a great app - especially for free!

Yeah I noticed that battery was knocked to almost dead from just about 20% on a 30 minute run. I am pretty impressed on how accurate it is in contrast to Nike plus. Any recommendations on an arm band? I have been running with it in my hand. I am definitely try using it on a bike ride this weekend. Cannot beat the price. The only addition I read that the pro version adds is voice notifications of stats at a pre-set interval.

As for screen locking up, I ran the iPod in the background while I was running so it didn't close out. I believe the only thing that can screw it up is if you get a text message while using it, phone calls do not interrupt.

On armbands, I only have one to AVOID:

The cover on the Belkin "Sport Armband Plus" is just glued on and there have been a lot of reports of it coming loose and the iPhone hitting the ground. Find one with the cover sewn on so that you don't run the risk of the cover coming off.
