I know I am repeating, but it's an important issue.

I met Jeremy when I use to belong to the gay gym here in Minneapolis and he was MODEL gorgeous. Since I don't belong to that gym, I haven't seen him in awhile.

    Here's his story.

    Yep.

    Very sad.

Lots of gay folks have the anorexic thing going, or border on it.

Is he getting laid looking like that?

    He wants to be loved?

    He has to love himself.

It's not about being able to love yourself. I like who I am, however I'm lucky if I eat one meal a day. For me it's just something I've been doing since I was about 14. Having said that I get a physical every three months along with my usual STD check and my body is in great working order. Thankfully, I know that as I start cardio training my appetite will increase with my bodies needs. At a 175cm (5'9") I weigh 58kg or 127lbs.

It's sad that this man has let himself be reduced to this. But everyone needs the motivation to better themselves both mentally and physically.

I have seen one or two anorexics before, but my God I have never seen anything like this. The poor guy, what must he be going through.

I couldn't read the links. One look at the pictures and I had to get out of there. Too upsetting.

I wish him well, and I hope he beats it.

It's insane how society and people's views can have such a powerful grasp on a person's mental and physical health. I think Oprah had a segment about gay men and eating disorders. I used to starve myself when I was younger and never realized how skinny I had gotten. I can't even remember to this day what I looked like besides this one picture I have of myself. You can obviously now see that I displaced my starvation with overeating! Oh the joys of depression!

Am I the only one who feels a little relieved? I know this is terrible, but it's a little relieving to know that the elite have problems too.

    Dammit, I'm going to hell.

Very sad. Its amazing how much of a slippery slope losing weight can be. I went from 230 to 150 in less than a year, using diet pills and skipping meals, alll while working out aggressively. Occasionally, I would get full and vomit.

I managed to stay somewhat healthy, as I was not overly under weight. But I was not taking care of my body the right way at all. When I broke the cycle, I lost so much muscle mass that it was really hard to gain my original form back. Proper eating and rest and taking care of yourself does wonders.

I had a room mate in SF who I saw beging down the same path. He lived off of cereal and healthy choice meals, often skipping meals and excercising twice a day for hours to burn more calories. He did not have the musculature to support his activity and nutritional depravation and was constantly sick. We pushed him to eat. But he would opt for a bowl of cereal for dinner when offered a steak. I think he got down to about 140 at 6'2".

I think he has bounced back, and was probably never go to an extreme. But there was really no getting through to him. Anorexia is like an additction. I hope there are not many of us on here that have to suffer or watch a friend suffer through such an ordeal.
