Hey guys, I need some advice...

I have been swimming for like 5 years now, I swam for a nationaly ranked team back at home and i loved it. My first year of being an NCAA athlete is coming to a close and it was not what i expected at all. I am transfering to FSU next year and i dont know if i want to continue swimming,or just see what it is like to be a real college kid for once.

    Any advice?

Well if you love swimming, then I'd say continue doing it. FSU may be a better experience. If not, then either stop doing it. Or don't swim for school, swim for another league or something.

For example, Boston has a gay swim league that go and compete in local and national events. Might be worth checking out in the area.

I don't know, maybe a break is in order... but, one question first: Would you miss it? If the answer is yes.... then don't stop.

I would say do NOT stop swimming cause I quit in high school cause I hated my coach and he made my life hell, but in the end I regret it cause I wish I stuck with it and its hard to get back to where I was and would be if I kept up with it

    either way good luck!

If by being a "real" college kid you mean going out and partying like crazy, acting totally irresponsibly, screwing anything with a pulse and turning into a pot-smoking fiend, being a "real" college kid is overrated. You're a great athlete, you've got discipline, goals, a killer body (I bet!), and something that you're passionate about. I'd try to stick with it, and if you can't, then you at least know you tried.

    Best of luck!
