How long should shin splints last

    Still suffering from shin splint on right leg, about a week now, using ice and ibuprofen, how long should this last. Thanks for any help.

    Usually resolves in one to two weeks if the RICE routine is followed. If the pain does not resolve, the problem could be a tibial stress fracture which is also from overuse.

    Rest the injured muscle Take a break from running for 7 to 10 days.
    Ice the injured area to reduce swelling.
    Compress the muscle with an elastic bandage.
    Elevate the injured leg

    The article recommended seeing a physician if it is painful to walk or if the pain has not resolved after two to three weeks

    As long as ur not resting, icing or taking advil for it, it will continue to lasticon_eek.gif

    Just got a xray no hairline fracture so its really shin splints
