I live in the Farmington Hills section of S.E. Michigan. I have been trying to find a place in Michigan to meet other conservative (sexually, monogymous) guys. I have been disillusioned by the offerings I am currently aware of(Pront, Royal Oak and Necto Ann Arbor). I am not interested in seeing waiters walk around in bikini briefs, or talking over loud music. Would anyone know of a place, preferably in the metro detroit area that is nice and quiet and where you can meet guys and talk to them in a respectable manner. Maybe a coffee shop, restaurant, or respectable bar. While I don't mind driving, I would prefer a place closer to home in Metro Detroit. Thank you

Try the Aut Bar in Ann Arbor, especially for Sunday morning brunch if you want to do something outside of the bar scene and in daylight hours.

Depending on your interests, join different clubs. Maybe volunteer at Affirmations in Ferndale (they have a lot of programs, but I'm not familiar with them).

I was back in Novi for the first time in over 20 years last summer and I could see that there seems to be a starbucks on every corner. sadly that's all that I could recommend because I didn't even hit any gay places when I was there. When I was a kid we belonged to Farmington Hills CC. It was very cool driving around and actually finding my way from memory all the time...

Ann Arbor is probably the best city in SE Michigan to seek out those type of social activities. Forget Detroit city proper unless you love ubiquitous urban decay populated by drug dealers, felons on parole, and your typical lowlifes. If Ann Arbor does not work, than cross the state line into Ohio and give both Toledo and Cleveland a serious try granted the driving distance might be a pain in the ass.

Sounds like the bar isn't your thing. You might want to try the Lesbian and Gay Community Center in Ferndale. Brand new facility. They have a lot of diverse programs and opportunities for volunteering. I was a mentor there 10 years ago and met a lot of great people.
