New here and I was wondering if anyone else on the RJ community has a twin?

I have an identical twin brother, he's my best friend and happens to be straight.

I'm just curious if anyone else here is a twin or has twin siblings? Gay or straight?

    OR

Maybe you would like to share your interactions with twins. My brother and I have identical twin friends and one of my good friends is dating a twin.

Wow. That sounds really uncommon. I don't even know any identical twins--take that back, I know one guy who has an identical twin (my church's pastor) but I've never met his brother.

But two identical twins who are friends with another set of identical twins and are friends with someone who is dating another twin? That sounds like a really uncommon concentration of twins!

I wonder how much the gay and straight despite the same DNA sets back the theory that your sexuality is determined before you're born.

I know one set of twin siblings, a brother and sister, because they're children of one of my mom's friends. So actually have kinda known them since I was like four.

I've also often wished I had an identical twin. I just think it's cool.

My ex has an identical twin brother, who is married and has a child. It was difficult dating a twin at times because he grew up with someone who always knew what he was thinking and feeling. They shared the same bedroom, roomed together in college, and were roommates when I met them. They started to drift apart after we met and after my ex's brother got married. I felt like my ex wanted me to replace his twin; he would often get upset when I didn't see or feel things the same way he did.

Luckily they started to look different as they got older, so it was easy to tell them apart. My ex's twin and I were never completely comfortable around each other - especially since I found him attractive!

    Twins:

Twins from one ovum: Twins that develop from a single ovum are called monozygotic. They are said to identical twins and have identical genomes.

Twins from two ova: Twins that develop from two ova that are fertilized at the same time are called dizygotic. They are nonidentical twins and have different genomes.

The term "fraternal" is often applied to nonidentical twins but it may be misleading. Nonidentical twins can be of the same sex (two brothers or two sisters) or of different sex (brother and sister). The better term is "nonidentical."

    Sem-identical twins are possible too:
    http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/6498215.stm
QUOTE AUTHOR GOES HEREThey are the result of two sperm cells fertilising a single egg, which then divided to form two embryos - and each sperm contributed genes to each child.

60% of identical twins share the same sexual orientation, one identical twin told me. I've know two pairs and they were all gay.

I'm a triplet (not identical). I'm the only gay one as far as I know. My brother is too straight for his own good and unfortunately we don't know how the youngest of us is since he's pushing daisies and has been for awhile. Maybe he would've been bi.

How cool and weird would that have been?

I have a fraternal twin and we are both gay. Most people think we are identical twins since we look so similar. Growing up, we never really got along with each other. But now we get along just fine most of the time. We also have a lot of the same interests. He is currently in Japan so I barely talk to him now. He is never on skype icon_sad.gif

    I find this very interesting
I've known two sets of identical twins
one where both were gay and one set where one was gay and the other str8
This does make the purely genetic cause of gayness less likely because identical twins have the same genotypic make up
meaning that they have the same genes
so there has to be some other influence some where along the lines

DrobUA you guys are adorable. And your sister is hot! I bet you get that all the time though from many straight boys.

Anyways, I know a set of identical twin brothers and one is gay and the other is straight. And one of my good friends (girl) is a twin and her twin is a lesbian but she is straight. I think that sort of thing happens a lot.

I have NOT however, met twins that were both gay. Siblings, yes, but not twins.

My class in school from 7th through the 9th grade had set a record for having 6 sets of twins in one class. Of those, only one set were boy and girl, two sets were boys, and the balance were girls, one set of Identical boys, and one set of Identical girls. I was lucky to be friends with all of them and I have kept track of them through the years, which reminds me I owe a letter to one of them. LOL !! Otherwise we hear from each other now and then on facebook. They were all a lot of fun to know !!
