It was front pages in newspaper today, Asian country is on alert for another new and unknown virus, transmitted from human to human. Just when , we get over Bird Flu and SARS , now we have this. This one is really bad. It spread easily, Now it in Kansas, California and New York. One infected tourist flying here, is all it need to spread it to this part of the world.

I remember during the height of SARS (originated from China), all airport will have a screen for anyone with high fever. I think we gonna have the same situation all over again or worst. Are you scare..what can we do. Escape to Mars.

Fuck and I fly into LAX on Friday.Clean it up before I get there please.

Just in case you don't get things under control,I picked up some Tamiflu today.

Still the most effective drug against the virus.

    They think.

Remember when everyone died of SARS? And then that year where a third of the world's population dropped dead from Avian Flu?

There is nothing I can do, so I wont be scared until my kidney's shut down, or whatever.

The highest mortality rate so far is healthy adults between 25- 45 (like 1918 pandemic), unlike SARS, and is rapidly human to human transmitting, unlike bird-flu.

Wash hands - use sanitizer. Avoid close proximity with coughing and sneezing people if you can. Do not touch your face til said hands are washed!

(awareness exercise - spend the day noticing how often people touch their faces. Pretty revealing.)

South Florida is at risk, with all the international travelers we have here. We could be facing the Black Plague and the authorities wouldn't restrict the airports or sea ports, too much money to be lost. And people drive here from every part of the US. I believe this year's flu shot doesn't work with this thing, right?

    Nope, it doesn't.
Different labs are working on a vaccine now. With SARS research and H5N1 (bird flu) experience, they're getting very good at this, so for now, exercise precautions. Our collective ability to be mindful of ourselves hygienically and to be careful around those we're in contact with daily should reduce transmission. Kids and older people appear to be getting it mildly to average (in terms of severity).

I'm debating as we speak whether to cancel a trip to Mexico. icon_confused.gif I'm supposed to leave on Tuesday. My folks have already told me they don't want me to go, so I have no idea what I should do...

I am going to Mexico on Wednesday. I am not scared. 81 people out of the how many millions of people??? Just be sensible about it. Much like Zombie said, i can't control it and I won't let it control me until "if" it affects me.

I bought pork chops at the supermarket yesterday. Then, I went back to the supermarket and bought tofu. I guess tofu is safe until some bird comes along and shits on it.

This bug is a mix of swine, avian and human flu, a strain never seen before.

Avoid people, pigs and birds and especially any hybrids of all three (you know who you are).

    Scared? No
    Cautious? Yes

I think we should take precaution like any other flu outbreak (be it avian, swine, or human), but there's need to hide in a sterile bubble.

No more scared than any other disease I could get out there. I'm just staying away from pigs and people that handle them or raw pork without washing! That shouldn't be too difficult!
