    Hey Babes,

I went out last night and I totally love this bar called the Mix in San Francisco. The drinks are strong and it's a mixed crowd but mostly gay. What bars do you guys like in your city?

Almost too many in the Fort Lauderdale area, but I'll nominate 3 gay ones: Georgie's Alibi, Scandals, and the Depot. All within biking (or scoooter) distance of me, all scruffy casual where everyone knows me, basically just neighborhood bars. Each with their own flavor, to suit whatever mood I'm in.

For a change of pace, however, when I want a superb gin martini while shopping the Galleria, I might drop down to the Blue Martini, or the Capital Grill, next door. Not gay, but with a classic club style I acquired long before I came out.

When in Manhattan, BTW, I recommend these gay ones: the Monster, which is not unlike the neighborhood bars I love here, and the Townhouse, for that upscale change of pace I also enjoy.

Oh dear! Well, Palm Springs has a ton of bars WITH restaurants. If we're talking just a bar crowd, I guess it would be Streetbar. There are more modern and youthful bars in PS, but Streetbar just has a comfort about it.

I avoid most of them like the plague..

However, I love the Grapevine here in Dallas.

In my city, I'm fond of Twist and Arthur's. Beluga used to be good...but there's something off about it these days. The upstairs bar at Via Vite is fun, as is the bar at Jean-Ro Bistro.

    Our gay bars...kinda sad. icon_confused.gif

Good heavens, are those still around? The Monster is where I used to pick up visiting flight attendants, and the Townhouse (or as they called it back then, "Jurassic Bar") to find the older gentlemen in suits exquisitely tailored to hold their very large wallets.

I was gunna say the monster is aptly named because that is pretty much all you will find there, and townhouse is the perfect place to pick up a nice hooker.

As for Chicago, it depends on the mood of the night. Sidetrack is always busy and the roof deck is awesome on nights with beautiful weather. For a more relaxed atmosphere, I go for Mary's Attic (a cool bar connected to Hamburger Mary's - yum).

There are a lot of other cool bars here, but so many of them use the stupid Berg system to measure the shots. That's a total detractor.

My new favourite spot (why did I discover it so late?!) here in Montreal is Baldwin Barmacie (a play on words with "bar" and "pharmacy," in case you didn't get that). They have the greatest drinks on the PLANET, and awesome music. It's not a gay bar, either. The crowd is chill, everyone is friendly, and the old syrup bottles they use to serve their drinks are kick ass. icon_biggrin.gif

Gay bar here is too typical (C-street) so I avoid it. My favorite bar is Esquire Lounge. Free peanuts and they ask you to throw the shells on the floor.

I'm not a fan of bars, but I loves me a good Pub! My favorite is The Pourhouse, here in the Annex neighborhood of Toronto. Great food, amazing patio in the summer, and stumbling distance from my apartment. I also love The Abbey Irish Pub in Rome, mostly because of the hot Irish waiter who took me on a special tour when his shift was over. Good times icon_biggrin.gif

My opinion is that the gay bar scene in San Francisco has gone completely to hell. Perhaps, if you go for HIGH-N-R-G screaming, thumping noise that is ramped up so loud that you have to use ASL to communicate to the person beside you, and bar tenders who act like they're doing you a huge favor by taking your money, then you're probably happy.

I miss the leather bars of yester-year, with hot men in leather, a pool table, music at a level that allowed conversation, and friendly bar tenders who actually acted like they were glad you came in.

Straight redneck bar called The Blind Horse. I'm not much into the gay scene.

Well..... Here in Hartford, CT there are two - one of which I cannot get into because I'm 19. The other is pretty boring and expensive ($20 to get in cause I'm under 21)

So.. my favorite so far is Gotham Citi in New Haven. It's a relatively large venue, inexpensive, the party goes on late, and there's lots of guys my age.

Hopefully soon I can get down to NYC and check out RUSH

(edit) OMG.. and how can I forget Karamba in Cancun?? Nothing I have been to in the US compares to this place - - an insanely sinfully fun club! I've never had as much fun as those nights there icon_biggrin.gif

don't know if i can say it is my favorite, because i have only been once, but it is called rooster fish in santa monica. i have lived in l.a. since august, have not been to weho yet, don't think i am pretty enough to get in. a gf told me i should check it out because it is low-key, she was right. i took another gf who had never been to a gay bar and she thought it was really cool.

when in long beach, the sweetwater saloon.

Heh, all of them. As a local blog pointed out, we have 23 beer taps in town, with a population of 420. That's .055 beer taps per capita or one public tap for every 18 people. It might be some sort of record, or at least more than any other town around here.

p.s. None of them are "budweiser," "miller," "coors," or any urinesque stuff like that.

AZ-88 in Scottsdale.............has my vote. Not really into bars - and this is half restaurant - not really totally gay either - but I don't really know other places.

Definitely agree with TheIStrat - Nellie's is a fun place to go if you're ever in DC. A lot of people seem spend a few hours there and then find their way over to Town, the "Danceboutique", which is right down the road.
