    Hey all.

Just an observation, I'm relatively new to the site (a year or so) and love it etc. Looking through other peoples profiles and pictures I always noticed the comments they had on their photos.

Only recently until i received one myself did I realize you had to actually accept the comment in order for it to be displayed.

My question is, does this not seem a little narcissistic? It kind of took away from the value of all the comments for me, and kind of reminded me of that person we all know that loves to tell others about compliments they’ve been given.

Why not just allow members to make comments as they wish?

I would imagine, just as with other sites, that it's about restricting rude and abusive comments. Believe me, they happen. I don't necessarily like the commenting module or the need to approve. But there should be an ability to delete should a disgusting or abusive comment come about.

And then you would need the ability to "report" those who post abusive comments... and that turns RJ sysops into babysitters which surely they don't want to be).

(Hmmm, am I dating myself using the term "sysop"?)

Anytime you allow people to comment, you're going to have the occasional boorish clod who thinks it's amusing to say something cruel, completely disregarding the feelings of the recipient.

I bet it won't be occasional even. You only have to go to YouTube to see examples of this. icon_confused.gif
