Well I do. My older bro is gay and I was just wondering if anyone else has a gay or bi sibling. Also has it had any impact on your life or you coming out? I know it made it easier for me to be comfortable with my sexuality. Just wondering.

I don't.

But on my mom's side, I have two aunts and a cousin who are lesbian.

And a late grandfather who was Archie Bunker on a very bad day.

When I came out to my younger brother, he remarked, "I wonder how grandpa'd react to know how many gay people he's fathered.

(His FIRST reaction was, "I guess this is a good time to tell mom I'm getting a nose ring.")

I didn't know about my younger aunt or my cousin until immediately after I came out, so it didn't affect the process, but it does make for an interesting comminatily among us during weddings and funerals.

I'm more than fortunate to have a family most of whose surviving members are very open, accepting and loving.

I had a lesbian sister, but recently she came out as transgender. Now I have a new brother.

I have several friends who have one or more gay sibling.

My older half-brother is gay... my older half-sister is lesbian. Oddly enough, I came out way before they did... she came out to my brother and I because we saw her in a gay bar with a girlfriend... he came out to me after 4 failed marriages... and that phone conversation was a little... odd...

Him: "You sittin' down, bro?"
Me: "Yeah..."
Him: "Got something to tell you and I hope you won't hate me."
Me: "Like what?"
Him: "I... I'm gay."
Me: "'Bout damn time you figured it out!"

Our dad was a southern missionary baptist preacher that made Archie Bunker look like a liberal. We never told him... we were afraid of his .38 police special and the fact that he probably would have used it on us...

I also have another sister who's straight and more of a gay activist than I am, and that's saying a lot!

No siblings, but my family tree is chocked full of fruit!

I come from a non fruiting pear tree, not sure how I came to be.

I have a lesbian sister! I made it easier for her to come out... when I came out to Mom, she asked me if my sister was gay too. I told her I promised not to tell.

Oldest half-brother - with his partner for over 30 years now....

But don't call it "nurture", because I didn't meet him until I was almost 50.

By the way, there's a major study of gay sibilings going on - they hit me up for participation a while back, but my brother wasn't available at the time.

PS: My ex, Ronnie, has a gay cousin - his sister's boy, who lives near me with his partner of some 15+ years....not a sibling, exactly, but a pretty close connection.

gay uncle but he died about 12 years ago. but it did kinda help to know my family has been exposed to it, and he was my dads favorite brother

My one and only sibling, an older(2 yrs) brother, is gay. And three, maybe 4 cousins. We're a bit crooked on my mom's side of the family.

I have an older brother in prison. So, reluctantly, probably.

I had a sexual relationship with my cousin one summer. He's the only one I know of. Funny thing is when I first meet him, we were both about 10 or 11, I felt a definite overpowering attraction which wasn't consummated until that summer when I was 17. I Hmm, I wonder if that's considered incest?

Yes, my twin elder brother. I came out to him first, and later on he figured that there's no hiding that he's gay too (oh come on, we're twins!). The jury's still out there though, on the chances of both twin siblings being gay, so don't ask me.

My younger sister is lesbian. We come from a bible-thumping family, so being able to talk to her was a big help.

My first bf had an older brother that was gay but not out, so it didn't make it any easier for him to come out. I've got an older sister that came out as a lesbian about a month after I came out to mom and dad as gay...so I paved the way for her until she jumped back in the closet because of her church. sad, because our family is fine with it.

Neither of my younger sis or bro are gay/lesbian. But between my mom and dad's side of their families, I can't help but think......surely SOME of 'em just GOTTA be gay. Maybe it's high time I stop being a doorknob and start asking a few guys whassup.

My bestfriend is gay and his half brother is gay.

I have adopted lesbian moms who are getting a divorce! Wee! So that's why i'm so queer.

my cousin is gay, a year older we kind of discovered we were gay at the same time almost so its been cool.

I'm one of 8 kids and the only one that is gay. I also come from a huge family my dad is one of 9 kids and not one of them is gay. Having said that I'm also the only one in my family with blonde hair and blue eyes. How's that for a throwback.

no direct siblings...but I have a:

43 year old gay uncle
28 year old gay cousin
8 year old [gonna be] gay cousin

there must be something in the family tree...

My older sister is a lesbian. And it dramatically affected my comming out. She came out loud, and very in-my-parents-faces. Rough..

So after she broke the ice, it was easy for me to sit my parents down and let them know in a polite.. considerate way.

It's funny looking back on all those years when my sister was chasing me around trying to tell me she was gay, but I thought she was figuring me out, and trying to ask me if I were gay, so I ran. Funny how things turn out sometimes.

Younger sister. What a nice Christmas present to receive in 2005!
