After many months of saying that I am gonna join a gym, and many months of procrastination, I have FINALLY joined a gym and started working out in ernest. Woohoo!

Right now, I'm sore as all hells, and I feel great about that hehe.

    --UPDATE (05/07/2009)--
I was able to actually jog at the 5mph speed on the tredmill for 2 whole minutes last night with out getting winded. I know that might not sound like much to most of you, but it is a huge accomplishment for me.

Awesome! Once you get into your groove, it becomes less of a chore. Plus, the eye candy at the gym gives you some motivation. icon_biggrin.gif

Exercise provides the stimulus for the body to grow; your nutrition provides the building blocks for your body to growth with. So watch your nutrition now. ... icon_wink.gif

That is so great. Keep pushing yourself and whenever you feel like not going to the gym, think about what an amazing feeling it is afterward and push yourself. Or set up a support network here of people whom you can e-mail saying "i don't feel like going today" so we can respond in giant capital letters helping you get motivated to go.

You are gonna get really hungry so watch what you eat. Come to love veggies and don't starve yourself. This is so great.

    congratz.

    WOOO! You go girl! icon_razz.gif

Keep it up and remember - it should never become a "Chore" ! you should spice things up to keep variety and fun-ness factors up :p Don't get discouraged if/when you don't see results in two weeks - it takes TIME! You've made a great first step - keep it up! (and gosh yes, the eye candy is always helpful motivation icon_eek.gif just try running behind a man with a great ass on the treadmills/etc ... you'll go way farther and longer than you would ever have thought icon_twisted.gif )

HIGH FIVE! haha way to get back at it.

The best advice I got from someone after I had a long hiatus from the gym is: DRINK WHEY PROTEIN after you work out. It gives you the same protein as milk, but its non-dairy formula delivers it to your muscles faster (with a lot less fat)...makes you less sore the next day and also prevents destroying progress you've made if you over-exercise.

Hopefully that might make jumping the exercise "chore" hurdle a little easier! icon_biggrin.gif

    Good for you!

Can I make a cardio suggestion? Try walking or jogging lightly for about 4 minutes, then run as fast as you can for a minute - really push yourself for that minute. Repeat that combination for as long as you can, up to an hour.

You'll find your endurance will increase and you'll shed fat a bit faster.

Congrats! Just keep going - please don't succumb to the pressure you may feel sometimes to skip a day or two. This can be lethal. Seriously. One day skipped becomes two - and then some say - "I'll get back to my work outs - tomorrow". Don't let this happen to you.

Another suggestion: Mark your progress each day on a calendar - give yourself kudos for a job well done! Next thing you know, you'll not want to skip a day and break your routine!

Good luck! Keep us posted. Let nothing - no party, not chore, no errand stand in the way of your work outs!!

Good Job! I put it on my calender to keep me on scheudle and I do agree witht he previousposter, once you skip a day, it is easy to become habit.
Keep us posted on your progress

Congratulations on your path to a better health! Even when you have bad days in the gym, give yourself credit that you did workout, even as small as 20 minutes!

Keep going, you can slow down when times are rough but keep going !icon_biggrin.gif
