    Mission
The National Day of Prayer Task Force's mission is to communicate with every individual the need for personal repentance and prayer, mobilizing the Christian community to intercede for America and its leadership in the seven centers of power: Government, Military, Media, Business, Education, Church and Family.

Does this mean you are not concerned about the USA if you don't Pray? Is prayer really going to affact anything? Will the economy improve quicker if more people pray? Will the war in Iraq end quickier if more people pray? Will the homeless be feed if more people pray? Will those without medical insurance recieve better health care if only more people would pray?

What need is there for every individual to realize the need for prayer?

I don't like the idea of the mission, it's one-sided. Muslims probably pray more than any religious group, yet it specifically says "Christian." Even as a Christian, I find this exclusionary and off-base. Whether you are religious or not, I would recommend "What the Bleep Do We Know?" It helps explain a common idea that each positive thought we put out there - and prayer isn't just for redemption - benefits all of mankind. Indeed, we could all use some form of prayer/meditation. They should change it to some sort of Religious Unity Day. Include all people and ideas with a common focus on opening our minds and hearts, and to pray for peace and for those suffering. The current idea is invalid in my opinion - it's Christian Day essentially.

    Love it!
To echo this: we do not live in a wish-based universe. Prayer has never been proved to be effective.
If you really want to help, why not pray while doing community service?

I think it was the Dali Lama that said, "I don't pray for peace, I work for peace." That's me, but adding in some buddhist prayers doesn't hurt.

The ideas of prayer and "national" when it comes to the US as a nation should never be put togther.

I am not a christian and feel no need to repent for any of the things I have done. If you feel like praying, hey, thats great for you. A mission to "communicate with everyone the need" for repentance is unncessary!

I love my country and would actually have no problem fighting for it, if that was necessary, but not being religious has nothing to do with patriotism.

    That says everything.

Jeez. Our own government isn't much different. Everywhere you look, you see 'Christian' or 'God' (as in the Christian God) used in the same sentence as 'National' and 'Government'. WTF is up with that?

The US isn't solely Christian, when will they realize that?

    LOL.

"Your prayer is important to us, that's why we've placed your prayer on hold due to exceptionally high prayer volume. To avoid future wait times, please avoid false belief systems."

....except that religion has no business meddling in Government, Military, Media, Business and Education.

This message brought to you by a non-literal (smart enough to interpret rather than take at face value) christian.

    Yay!!!!!!!!!

    We three agree!

Probably the single worst influence in modern civilization is false belief systems, and the folks who embrace them.
