Pat Robertson: Gay Marriage Leads To "Bestiality," "Child Molestation," "Pedophilia"

Yesterday, when Gov. John Baldacci (D) signed a marriage equality law, Maine became the fifth state to allow legal same-sex marriage. On the Christian Broadcasting Network today, Pat Robertson responded by claiming that the "ultimate conclusion" of legalizing same-sex marriage would be the legalization of polygamy, bestiality, child molestation and pedophilia. "You mark my words, this is just the beginning in a long downward slide in relation to all the things that we consider to be abhorrent," said Robertson.

It's an old argument and I'm very sick of hearing it. I was in an antique store recently and saw a stack of old Playboys. One had an interview with Anuita Bryant; I started to read it and couldn't put it down, even though I felt slightly nauseous. She made the same arguments that Pat Robertson made and also talked about how gay men eat sperm and that it destroys life because they eat it. She went on and on about it in the article. The interviewer pointed out the heterosexuals eat sperm too but somehow she saw it as different.

Maybe someone will do this to Pat Robertson:

If he is going to be using that logic then isn't the 'beginning' of that slippery slope straight marriage?..

    re-watch Milk

The cream pie needs to become part of the arsenal of gay weaponry. If people want to publicly spout theater of the absurb rhetoric they should start to expect an appropriate gay response.

you know, I heard him say that. He also said, just after that, that African-Americans are against civil rights for gays because they're offended that people say it's the same when it's not because skin color isn't a choice and homosexuality is. I love it when a straight person says being gay is a choice. How the hell would he know?

One should not expect religious zealots and ideologues to be rational.

Let's not forget that Republicans here on RJ support this stuff. They vote for these people, they oppose gay marriage, but they claim to be gay. I do wonder...

    Back to what I have said before;

Republic and Gay is about as sensible as is being Jewish and a Nazi.

I was just listening to some Oingo Boingo today and this line sums up how I feel about Pat, his ilk, and the assinine things they say
Danny ElfmanId love to hear you laugh tonight, Id love to hear you weep
Id love to listen to you while youre screaming in your sleep
Id love to soothe you with my voice and take your hand in mine
Id love to take you past the stars and out of reach of time
Id love to see inside your mind, to tear it all apart
To cut you open with a knife and find your sacred heart
Id love to take your satin dolls and tear them all to shreds
Id love to mess your pretty hair, Id love to see you dead.

Religious nuts are religious, and nuts.
They know very well that gay marriage has absolutely nothing to do with pedophilia, or bestiality or polygamy, or child molestation. They are simply lying to convince lazy ignorant people to vote against it. Happily, they are fighting a losing battle.
