    Psalms 137

1 By the rivers of Babylon we sat mourning and weeping when we remembered Zion.
2 On the poplars of that land we hung up our harps.
3 There our captors asked us for the words of a song; Our tormentors, for a joyful song: "Sing for us a song of Zion!"
4 But how could we sing a song of the LORD in a foreign land?
5 If I forget you, Jerusalem, may my right hand wither.
6 May my tongue stick to my palate if I do not remember you, If I do not exalt Jerusalem beyond all my delights.
7 Remember, LORD, against Edom that day at Jerusalem. They said: "Level it, level it down to its foundations!"
8 Fair Babylon, you destroyer, happy those who pay you back the evil you have done us!
9 Happy those who seize your children and smash them against a rock. ... icon_eek.gif

The Bible is beautiful in Hebrew. Perhaps it shouldn´t be translated. People do all sorts of mischief with it when they think they can understand it.

Yeah, Judah slept with a harlot, or so he thought. She actually was his widowed daughter-in-law. After Judah found out his daughter-in-law was pregnant, he was going to have her executed for adultery, but then she proved that he was the one she had slept with.

Ooooh. Try reading what Lot, the only godly man in the village (yeah but no but yeah but no but), offered in return for the angels who visited Sodom to be spared from buttsecks.

Though I'm not Christian I once received a 150 page Bible coloring book at a Catholic friend's birthday party (as a child of course). If I remember correctly it only had images and stories from child-friendly old-testament stories though. I had a good time coloring it. You could look into getting one of those. Then not only will it have pictures, but it will have your own artwork in it...

Now that I think about it, could the fact that I colored all the animals in ark different colors of the rainbow have been an early sign of something?

I always liked Lot's incestuous daughters... Since "god" just destroyed two towns for being inhospitable, and since Lot, his wife (who disobeyed "god") and Lot's two daughters were the only "righteous" people in the town... Even though Lot offered his daughters to the town's people to rape instead of the visitors...

Yeah, some fucked up shit right there...

That story is repeated in The Book of Judges, chap. 19...

But this time, a Levite's concubine runs away. He goes gets her. On the way back, it becomes night...now get this....the man wont stay in an non-isrealite town, so continues to an Isrealite town. You would think he would be safe in an isrealite town, right? No! The whole Lot story repeats itself.....the isrealite men bang on the door for the visitor to come out. Instead the man tosses out his concumbine. She is raped to near death. In the morning, she is collapsed at the door. He comes out in the morning, tells her to "get up, we're going" real sympathetic like, and then throws her over his donkey and proceeds home, by which time she is dead when they arrive. So he cuts her up into 12 pieces and send a piece to each tribe of Isreal demanding they help in his revenge. So all the rest of Isreal goes over and wipes out the whole tribe of Benjamin except for 600 men. So then the Isrealites feel sympathy for these 600 men....so they go attack a nearby town....slaughter all the residents except 400 virgins....and tell 600 men to go attack the town of Shiloh to get the other 200 virgins.

So the next time somebody tries to dump the story of Sodom and Gemorrah on you, tell the same story from Judges and then ask, why did those two innocent towns get attacked and their residents slaughtered? What was God thinking then?
