Was just wondering how many certified personal trainers we have on this site. I have read profile of a few of you out there and was just wondering. Might be a good opportunity for us to communicate, share ideas, etc. Since we seem to share more than just a profession, maybe we can discus how our sexuality plays a role in our profession. You can be from anywhere in the world...international perspectives would be of great interest.

I'm not, although a friend on this site who never posts is. I've always wanted to pursue something in the fitness field.

I am currently studying for my ACE certification. I hope to take the exam this summer or fall. In the meantime I am working as a trainer at the YMCA in Green Bay.

My bio: Multiple Marathon & Ultra Marathon Finisher (Boston Qualified), Certified Personal Trainer, ACE Fitness, Adult CPR & First Aid - Red Cross, Personal Trainer/Practical Training Program - ACE Fitness, Training & Conditioning for Sports Performance - ACE Fitness, Speed-Agility & Quickness Specialist - NESTA certified...working on my NASM certification.

I run a Fitness Boot Camp here in Dallas and I also do 1 on 1 Personal Training for a Wellness Center too.

Yeah, it would be great if RJ had some sort of "Trainers Corner" here...there has been a few times, I've wanted to run by an issue or problem with other trainers, but didn't want to start a thread....

I'll be taking a workshop for the ACSM Personal Trainer Exam at the end of the month, and I hope to have taken the test by the end of the Summer.

Anyone have any suggestions on Study Materials? The review guide I ordered arrived today, but I'm not sure if that's going to be enough.

I would love that too since I'm still planning on getting certified.

Plus, I think it would be great if there was an area to ask questions to certified trainers. To many simple fitness question threads on here turn into chaos after 50+ people put their two cents in, lol. icon_smile.gif

I am certified with ACSM, NSCA, and ACE. I've been training for almost ten years now. I am also an ACE Group Exercise Instructor and a Weight Management Consultant. I have been in the Health and Fitness field for 14 years now. I have educated and trained new instructors and trainers at several gyms across the country.

I highly encourage a "Trainer's Corner" on here to exchange ideas, concerns, etc.

Reiki isn't related to personal training. But since you mentioned it I'm a Reiki level 3, have been for roughly 8 years. icon_smile.gif

it is related to health and wellness however.. so i decided to put it =]

Not a CPT, no - but a three-time Olympic coach in cross-country. You learn a little about training along the way...

    *bump*

    For those who are certified...

I'd like to start studying for NASM certification. What books and study materials do you recommend?

I know NASM offers package deals on it's study materials, but besides those, are there any recommended books and study materials outside of the recommended curriculum?

    Thanks!
