    My partner and I are coming to London as the preamble to a Southampton cruise. We usually stay with friends in Kent, but they're not available this time. We'll only be there for 6/19-23 and again 7/7-9. We need some suggestions for:

    1. Hotels...not outrageous, but clean, comfortable, reasonably priced "gems" in the city;

    2. Places to eat...the best! Not the most expensive, but if it's the best, that part doesn't matter. What are your favorites in downtown London?

    3. Plays...what's playing that you've seen and consider a "must-see"?

    4. Anyone want to get together for a drink...or two...while we're there?

    Thanks in advance.

    We've had a suggestion of the St. Giles Hotel on Bedford Avenue in WC1B.
    Anybody know of it?

    I've had several private replies to my plea, so Ed & I are booking hotels, restaurants and plays based on RJ recommendations.

    What about gay bars in the Soho area...any suggestions and descriptions? Thanks, guys.

    I remember recommending a load of bars in the past and getting flack for sending unsuspecting tourists to either a) shit bars, or b) sleazy sex pits.

    Once you're on Old Compton Street, you won't be short be short of choice. It's basically a 'love it or hate it' scenario though. I kinda love it.

    What you looking for specifically?

    The Time Out guide is online now: www.timeout.com. I didn't realize there were so many bars. I guess I was just looking for personal opinions. It's kind of hard to figure bars out from just advertisements. My partner and I are not late night people and aren't really interested in dance bars. I actually like twink strip bars or pool/billiards tables or just plain old pubs.
