For me, I work out because if I didn't, I'd be a lot more depressed. I also do it because I want to look better (not that it seems to matter).

So why do you work out?

I like the feeling of a "pump". Makes me feel good the rest of the day.

Oh, and I like big biceps.

I work out as a way of investing in many more years of active life later on ! icon_cool.gif
There are strong correlations between earlier years of activity and better overall health in later years of life. Those one hour work outs can help reduce risks of cardiovascular disease, coronary disease, cancers, occurance of depression and increase internal locus of control ! icon_idea.gif

I could lie and say that is the only reason... however, getting lots of male attention is a nice bonus icon_smile.gif Im just being honest!

Do you guys ever feel like it doesn't work anymore, or that sometimes it's just not worth it? I'm just curious.

Of course. It´s normally a sign either of overtraining (you´ve been going hard for months and you need a week off) or that you are not training smart (in which case a week off and a workout makeover are needed, ideally some sessions with a personal trainer to give you new ways of working)

And why do it? The modern, urban, sedentary lifestyle is profoundly unnatural, as is being totally out of shape by the age of 30. You feel better, look better and are healthier if you work out.

I'll never be what I want to be, unless I'm willing to spend thousands on surgery. I've got to settle for being the best I can with what I've got. It is disheartening to look at myself in the mirror sometimes and see the problems progress creates.

Vanity mostly. It helps my psyche and I feel good.

Plus hitting the showers after a workout in the gym is not a bad thing.

I want to ward off as many diseases as I can. I want to age as gracefully as possible. I don't just want to live many more years, but I want those years to be me being healthy and independent.

Plus, I want to look good.

For many reasons. To keep from being depressed, bad family history of heart attacks and diabetes (from being overweight), a kind of fear of getting fat, looking good, having that great flexibility, and the satisfaction of knowing I'm in control of something.

That and people that are fit and not fat have a much selection in clothes and stylesicon_redface.gif

Oh and because when I'm old and retired I plan on doing as much hiking, surfing, backpacking, traveling as i can with a good body that will let me.

It took a huge change internally, but now I work out because I actually want to. I look forward to it, It is no longer a chore or something I feel that I need to do to look good or keep off weight or that I am expected to do. When I am away on business I even look for local gyms to go to because it just makes me feel good. Now if I could just gain some more mass. icon_biggrin.gif

I work out for the same reasons I've worked out since high school........to look and feel my best. I see it this way - we get just one body in this life - so why not treat it right - stay healthy - feel great - have a terrific life. We make our minds up to be happy and healthy - - - - or not. It's up to you!

I also work out because I want to. If I don't feel like it, then I don't go. But it's also a habit, and now I'm somewhat addicted to it. icon_eek.gif

Because I had lost control of my life. I was not able to get control of my life until I started working out... Weight being the factor that wreaked havoc!!!

NOW, if only somebody here would be willing to help me get to the next level of my workout and diet it would be great!!!!
