We are all here because of an interest, love, necessity, or love of exercise and sports. But how many of you here are athletes right now. How many of us are actually Jocks lol.

So whats your sport and do you do it competitively or recreational like pick up a a gym?

"Jock" means different things to different people.

I consider myself to be a PT (physical training) junkie. I run, lift weights, and whatever else that's fun and challenging. But nothing for competition.

I arrange flowers competitively, I have been doing so for many years now, I held the title of Australia best Flower Arrangement, also, the fastest flowerer in Australia for several years running and, if I might say, my Daffodil arrangement really does bring the smack down..

Well, I guess I am not (yet) a jock because I just recommitted to the gym recently, but as I get into shape I am looking for a sport I can be passionate about; so, I am very interested in what others have to say about what they enjoy.

Yes, I am actually a real athlete.
Indoor six man volleyball is my sport and I play and compete in tournaments often. My team, L.A. Crush recently won Gold at a local tournament and we are going to Chicago next week to compete in our National Championships. (NAGVA) gold5-3-09.jpg

"and, if I might say, my Daffodil arrangement really does bring the smack down......"

    dude....too, too funny

ok, more seriously, I consider myself an athlete, though I'm not competing against anyone but perhaps myself....kind of a late blooming one, really getting more serious in my early 40's.

weight training: originally for the mental health aspect (got me away from working with the public at my old job for at least my lunch hour), secondly for the results I've seen on my body

skiing which I've loved for years (first went at 17 when this really cute guy moved to Tulsa from Conn. and was pinning away to ski....and well I was pinning for him....nothing happened but I did learn to ski :-)

most recently, mountain biking which is doing great things for me cardio wise (which I'd otherwise avoid). my goal there is be able to keep up w/ one of my straight buds who rides my butt into the ground......first time I rode, it was 102 f°, I was as wet from sweat as though you'd thrown a bucket of water over me but I had this huge grin. those were the conditions the first three times I rode, the fourth was from the top of Winter Park....much better temp. but 10k ft will still kick your ass.

does this make me a realjock?

I don't consider myself a jock at all, but my sport is Tae Kwon Do. I've been training since January. I recently got my orange belt. I'm planning to compete at the end of May, probably in breaking and form. I'd like to compete in sparring, but I think I'll wait for the next competition to do that.

I just started my third season skating roller derby, so yeah, I guess I'm actually a jock.

I work in a warehouse. We unload freight (by hand), sort it (by hand) and ship it out (forklifts). When I'm lucky, the boss lets me get in a trailer and unload it. The exercise is great. Unloading two or more trucks in one day is all the cardio I need. Newbies are always surprised when they see me unloading because it would take a jock to keep up with me, and I don't look like a jock.

I played soccer and ran cross country in highschool, and I'm seriously considering joining a gay rugby team in Austin after I bulk up and put on some muscle.

I (briefly) played on the gay soccer team in New York and will probably join some sort of sport now that I'm in LA.

I'd love to row again; I rowed in college. Such a great workout and so much fun!
