Hey guys (especially S Pacific Locals)

I have a business trip in Tokyo later this year and since I am all the way over on that side of the date-line i figured I would roam around the S Pacific for a few days. I don't want an agenda or an itinerary, just a bit of knowledge to work off of. I am thinking Palau, Micronesia, Cairns Australia and maybe Guam. Any ideas or "must see" places?

Thanks in advanced and if any one wants to join me, hit me up.

    Jeff

**Oh and I am doing this on a bit of a budget, so no 5-star recommendations. icon_smile.gif

Look into Taiwan. It's not a common tourist desination, which makes it affordable, and it is a great blend of the developed and developing worlds.

Let me know if you are interested. I spent a few days in Taipei a year ago and could tell you a few things to see- though I wasn't there long enough to do everything.

....Give Guam a miss..... its a pretty place but you'll probably end up missing your kidney or something! and its very ghetto!, anywhere in Australia is a must see place.... (im a local) the great barrier reef is the best in summer, but then there are also the storms! if your going to come down this far you may aswell stop in Vietnam! Ho chi Minh city is probably one of THE BEST places i've ever been!!!!!!...and i've travelled a fair bit! thailand is also awesome... just not Bangkok!, Micronesia is kinda like the maldives just maybe not as commercial, New zealand is very very scenic, one of the most naturally beautiful places is Tasmania in Australia, and anywhere in the south island of New zealand, and of course the bay of islands in the north island!
