hang on, are you talking about that show I keep seeing advertised about the singers? I was forced to sit through an add on tv the other day.. some little kid with a puffy face, bad hair and terrible bad boy attitude tried to belt out a classic.. can't remember the song, but all he managed to do was whimper pathetically and kill an awesome classic song!

I liked them both, Chris was more of a musician and Adam a great performer, so America decided. Sorry for Adam however.

America got it right. It happened exactly the way I thought it would. Kris needed this win for his success, I only hope he doesn't fade into the abyss like most other AI winners).

Is Adam the most talented AI contestant?

No, Latoya London was and quickly forgotten, because she wasn't young and hip. This show is merely a popularity contest but I still love it. Adam is too eclectic and eloquent to fit into the mainstream and not as sexy as Kris.

Sex appeal sells. Really, is a gay effeminate man appealing to the masses? I think he is hot but most voters would disagree.

Whom will I remember longer?Adam, simply because he can sing well and I anxiously await his ostentatious performances. Like Cher, he can sing and put on a spectacular show. He needs to open for her in Vegas.

Adam has the ability to sing many different types of music and has once I googled his music. Although, he seems to prefer alternative rock ( not my favourite). Kris not so much.

This win would have been nice for him but merely a stepping stone for the future.

    Until next year...

P.S. Silver, I'm going to pinch you for spoiling the result ahead of time. Damn that mountain std. time zone.

Mileman.....I really don't think Adam lost because he is a gay effeminate man. I think he didn't win because, you are right, he isn't as mainstream as Kris. I do not believe that Adam Lambert will sell trillions of records, but Kris will.

That is kind of what I think the show is about....and I also think it is pretty cool that Kris is a talented musician.

I believe Adam will end up on Broadway.

AND I SAID HERE SPOILER mileman....unless you are talking about the personal note i sent you.... icon_biggrin.gif

How can Kris sell trillions of records when there are already trillions of Krises out there?

Adam Lambert will be more successful in the long run, guaranteed. Remember Daughtry? He got FOURTH place. Kris is NOT a better singer than Adam, Allison OR Danny.

America gets it wrong sometimes... especially now. And if you think Adam's look and being a gay effeminate man had nothing to do with him losing you are pretty naive. There's no way around that.

I voted for Kris, but I was just as shocked as Kris when Adam didn't win. Adam will do well and will be remembered. His cd's will sell. So will Kris'. Funny that a married guy wins Idol. Just goes to show teenaged girls and gay men will vote for the hotness factor...haha.

I'd love to blame homophobia in America for Adam's loss (and it may partly be true), but while Kris showed us Kris, Adam put on a show. We didn't get a chance to see the real Adam underneath the glam and guyliner and furrowed brow.

BUT Adam may go on like Canada's Jacob Hoggard (who regularly put on a show, even make-up and a bright blue unitard to channel Bowie in his Ground Control to Major Tom), and be incredibly popular with staying power, thanks perhaps to the fact that he won't have a slick idol-produced album. time will tell.

I still wished there could've been a gay idol. Considering Clay, are all the gays not good enough to be more than the runner up?

    Totally agree here.

It was the "performer" vs. the "musician".

Do you remember Adam during the auditions? He seemed like a completely different person then.

Haha he already toured with a Broadway musical.
    *Edit*
I think that to debate about talent is too relative. There are so many different kinds of talent. Michael Jackson couldn't sing as well as Pavorati but he had something else. I doubt Nat King Cole was technically as developed as Josh Groban, but does that mean he was less talented. I love all sorts of artists, like Lou Reed, Bowie, Joe Strummer or Brian Flowers but they definantly can't sing the greatest.
I just didn't like Kris as much as Adam. I've never really watched the show before but something about him hit home (no I don't wear make up or sing broadway or anything like that). Kris didn't...
I can understand why America voted for Kris though.

I've been a little in the dark this season, so I could use so guidance from you guys.

Kris seems nice enough, boring personality, but good entertainer. The fact is, I didn't watch the show much this season, and all I know about Kris is that Wikipedia says "Allen is a devout Christian. He was a worship leader at New Life Church in Maumelle, Arkansas, as well as at the Chi Alpha campus ministry of the University of Central Arkansas, where he was a business major".

So would supporting him be like supporting Miss. California? Would this guy want us supporting him, or have you guys who have been watching picked up that he is more open minded than his Wiki bio would lead us to think?

I know that lots of you couldn't care less, and would support the best singer even if he had been convicted of hate crimes, but I wouldn't want to put my support behind someone who hates me.

Whoa. That is a stretch. I have not heard one word of Kris being one who "hates us"

And I don't think that it is fair to blanket statement all Christians or believers into the same category and if Kris didn't talk about his friendship with Adam and the others so much, I still wouldn't be convinced that he "hates us".

Kris is cute but boring... and out of Adam's league. If it's purely a singing contest, Adam should have won. Adam is also infinitely more entertaining. The music world doesn't need another John Mayer.

I would have preferred Adam to win, but Kris was great too. Every year I snicker as the same old tired drama plays it self out in the viewership. This site is a perfect example of what I mean. So many people think that if they like one performer, then they have to hate the other one or at the very least catalog 1,001 things about him or her that they think sucks. The shit talking that goes on online and at the water cooler or at Sidetrack on a Saturday night should be somehow be manufactured into a reality series all it's own.icon_lol.gif

I love Kris' style of music, so in my opinion, America got it absolutely right! icon_biggrin.gif

Adam's very talented, no doubt, but he's a male Lady Gaga...all style, no substance. Entertaining, amusing, even good to pump you up whilst listening at the gym...but wait until next year when the new model comes out.

Kris is a musician. He is a songwriter. He is an artist. They're the types who will always have a fan base and survive any fad, regardless of whether or not they sell a million+ records. I'd much rather pay to see Kris in a small, intimate setting then see Adam in a big, crowded club.

    Your mileage may vary.

I didn't mean to offend anyone. Until tonight I was under the impression that Kris Allen was an evangelical preacher from the south, with his own congregation and a christian music career. That sent up a red flag that he might not embrace his gay fans. Now I understand that that isn't the case. Glad to hear it.

On another note altogether, what was with that cheesy "Idol Trophy" they just created? I almost expected them to pull out a sash and tiara next.

I was at the finale and I enjoyed the experience regardless of the outcome. My votes all went to Adam. I voted for Kris too when there were other contestants, but I would have chose Adam.

I wish them both the best though. I hope they have good careers ahead of them. Actually I think they will!

On the bright side, Adam doesn't have to sing that horrendous song!!! Although he sang it much better than Kris. Poor Kris though, it's a terrible song.

I thought Adam would win, but after knowing how many more votes Kris got last week I knew Kris would be the one to win. I've been pulling for him and glad he won. Adam was too over the top.
