Any of you guys ever have a near death experience? I mean did you just make it by the hair on your chin...or maybe you even passed on and...came back?

I actually believe I am on my 12 life now....

No kidding. I have had some very close calls. I was driving this fast car Porsche when I was in a signal lane to turn. Cars were going fast in the on coming lane.. Finally, a big truck stopped for me so I could complete my left hand turn. I pulled in front of him and...well, the lane next to him was another HUGE SEMI!! Going fast>>>>>>> I mean fast. I closed my eyes as I turned. I thought for sure I would be crushed. I made it to the other side. I actually felt someone or something lifted me across.......I AM FREAKED

I made it. Oh, I must have a few guardian Angles.... wow

There have been many times when I KNOW that my guardian angel has saved me from sure death and I know he curses every single time. Probably has asked to be reassigned...LOL

umm or maybe, you where just imagining it..

perhaps all the adrenaline and mental response to such a stressful situation caused you to imagine something that wasn't really there..

    Just maybe

well ignoring the fact that you very well could be dead and just don't know it yet and that all of this right now is just a complete fabrication of your mind as it desperately attempts to grapple with the fact that life is quickly slipping away from you while you are actually strapped between a truck a road and a whole heap of metal causing your body to be much like a faulty condom and leak all over the place..

Your obviously alive.. so.. the truck wasn't really aimed at you.. and you're perception of what happened is faulty again caused by the stress of the moment and instead of just saying "oh shit, I was wrong and freaked out for nothing" You'll ascribe it to something super natural for what ever reason..

Yeah, the car I was driving was/is very fast.....

But seriously, dude....I saw the fucking bumper of this truck when I was turning and closed my eyes and woke up across to the other street that I wanted to make it to....

I should be under the wheels of this beast!

All my near death experiences occurred on dance floors and one car wreck in the 90's. I beleive I'm alive not because I have a guardian angel, but because Heaven won't have me and Hell's afraid I'm going to take over. I might just live forever.

I saw the tittle of the post and car photograph and I was like "well, with that car heaven so can wait!"

As far as your experience, I do not know. But surely you can search up lots of that kind of experiences in the net. But what's life without a little mystery?

Well, does the surfer needs to change his ways because he likes to keep riding the big waves?

Just make sure your personal waves are safer in the generals and enjoy the emotions in the particulars icon_cool.gif No need to cheat death and further burden your guardian angels getting you out of close calls icon_smile.gif In particular NOT at the wheel of such (any) cars!

I've stared death in the face a few times now.

It doesn't scare me and am fine with it at any time it happens.

I was shot back in 86 and revived, gangrene in 87 that almost burst out of my gut, recent motorcycle accident when someone ran me off the road and bounced off one side then the other. Only broke my finger. I'm alive for some reason. Don't know about angels though, never saw one.

Why indeed. Perhaps life is telling you something: get out--and you keep ignoring the signs.

OK, but seriously. You had a close call. Maybe a few too many close calls. That you are alive is the only reason you can wonder why you are. If you were dead, we wouldn't be having this conversation, and you wouldn't think you're some M. Night Shyamalan character.

Every human on this planet knows that they are unique. Not statistically unique. Just personally unique. When a thing happens to you, you are obviously apt to believe that your personal uniqueness has some bearing on the facts of your life. Marginally, they do. But statistically, nothing really remarkable has happened to you.

Was your head severed from your body, and miraculously grew back? That would be remarkable. You had a near miss, THROUGH WHICH YOU CLOSED YOUR EYES. Breathe a sigh of relief, and cross the street more carefully next time. You were lucky, but not spared by God.

Wow again. Mickey and I have the same beliefs. Rational over emotional. But who would have thought it? Mickey and Triggerman on the same page? The lion sleeps with the lambs. World Peace is possible? Maybe Mickey and I should head to the Middle East and solve those shenanigans.

I've had lots of close calls. That's all they were. Here's just one of many, many, this one teaching me a little lesson:

It was a winter day in 1976, cold in the 20s Fahrenheit, with snow on the ground. But the roads were clear & dry, so I decided to ride my motorcycle to visit a friend.

I parked at the curb of the house because the driveway was icy, and started to crunch across the snowy lawn to the front door in the silent cold. But then I realized I'd forgotten to turn off the gas petcock, and turned back towards the bike.

At that very instant I heard a loud crack behind me, and reflexively spun around, to see a large, ancient oak tree in the middle of the yard nearly split in two. The huge branches crashed down onto the lawn with a great thump that shook the ground, at the very spot I would have been walking, had I not turned back toward the bike.

Not one branch but many, and weighing thousands of pounds. I doubt I could have escaped nor survived such a sudden and massive thing, as I watched it shake & rock for a moment from the impact just inches from my feet, a cloud of snow slowly settling.

Then all was silent & still again, the way crisp winter air can be, when no birds sing, no leaves rustle in the wind. And my only silly thought was: "Where's the dramatic Hollywood movie-style music? Shouldn't there be some kind of 'DA-DA-DA-DAH!' accompaniment here? I just almost died!" But all there'd been was a crack, a crash, and silence again.

And I thought about that afterward, and realized how little real life is like the movie & TV versions, or vice versa. Real danger doesn't tip us off with a dramatic build-up and background music, so we can suspect something's about to happen -- it just happens. And it can happen quickly, and impersonally, and suddenly you're dead or injured, and nothing else has changed. The silence continues, even if you don't.
