Summer's coming, so we can look forward to showing off our buffed, bronzed bodies, right?

Well almost - the body's coming along, but the 'bronzed' part is tricky. I'm one of those pinky-pale guys that never gets any color (other than red).

So is some sort of fake tan the answer? I like the idea of those spray-on booths they have at some salons, but I'm scared of turning a strange color.

Any tanning-challenged guys had any success or horror stories with using those?

I just tan 8 minutes a week on a bed, covering my face. The rest, self tanner on my face and neck....Jergens Glow works, and if you have the money, Shiseido is brilliant.

I tried the spray-on booth for a while. the color was OK, actually, but it was too expensive for me; about twice the cost of a tanning bed/booth. It was a couple years ago, and the price may be better now...the process was a bit of a pain. You had to goop up the parts that should not be tan, like your nails and palms, etc.
Then you hold your breath and wait for the COLD spray to hit you.

I like tanning booths - not a big fan of the fake'n'bake personally.
Mind you, the light is actually good for my skin so that probably has something to do with it =D

i still the the fake stuff always looks fake! i tried some really good, very expensive fake tan cream on my face, and i chose the very lightest shade just to be subtle, and still my friends were like "what's on your face dude?"

technology just isn't to that point yet where it looks totally real. i'd suggest taking walks in the sun as often as possible... even pasty people like us can get a nice tan if you are consistent about it and do it in small doses. :)

I am as PALE as they come! I burn easily in the sun. So some guys at the gym suggested for me to get the base color down on a tanning bed and get the nice bronzed color. It worked. I didnt it slowly for a few weeks. 2 years later, i found a mole on my left shoulder and on christmas morning I noticed that it had a red ring around it and the mole itself was black. To get an appt with a dermatologist was drama. But once I was seen it was diagnosed as pre-melonoma. I caught it in time. The scar is finally going away. Basically I can never go to the beds again and try not to be in the sun for long periods of time. Now I use the wipes that work pretty good and last about 12 days on me. Its a hassle but the results are just as good. Just dont do a dark shade. You will be oompa loompa status.

Beds age you prematurely (gasp, a horror in the gay world!) and spray on tanning can leave rings around the collar. I ruined alot of dress clothes that week. never again. stick with the moisturizer/bronzers. Its subtle, but you'll need a spare set of hands to get your backside even.
I'm one of the pale guys like you. hell, my last name has a direct connection to the color of my skin. I used to tan in me younger days, in stand up booths and I thought the tan lines were sexy, but I prefer not too now.
how wierd is it to see a guy in a jock with a brief or square tan line?

I can't stand any fake stuff. Give me the sun and the beach any day. Ive heard bad things about natural sunlight and fake bakes. Given this, I prefer the experience of the beach and the natural way. Of course it is very important to wear sun block according to your skin type.
