OK ... first I have to admit that I am not an avid follower of American Idol

But I have heard about this guy Adam Lambert
I don't know if he's gay or not
But he appears to be and is a little sexually ambiguous

In fact FOX has been playing this aspect of his personality up
They have been labeling the two finalists
The Guy Next Door vs The Guy Liner ....... are you kidding me?

What I have seen and heard is that Adam Lambert had the show sown up
That he was miles ahead of the other guy talent-wise
Well America voted and Adam lost to the Guy Next Door

I see this as blatant homophobia
The same kind of homophobia that gave the oscar to Crash instead of BrokeBack Mountain
The same kind of homophobia that had NH vote against gay marriage

For all the talk in the world and all the polls when people have the anonymity of the voting booth their real agendas come out
We are still a Homophobic country and if we leave our needs up to the voting public we're still fucked

Who gives a shit about American Idol? That has to be one of the dumbest television programs ever produced. It is evidence of the declining intelligence of a large percentage of the American viewing public, how sad.

I agree with you That's why I don't really watch it

    But America does watch it
and for good or for bad it shows you where their collective minds are

I don't think its homophobia. People (like me) liked Kris better.

And Crash was a better movie than Brokeback. Brokeback was a snoozefest and the acting wasn't really all that good.

I'm going on what other people have said about Lambert
and who knows you might be right about that but
calling Crash better than BrokeBack disqualifies you when it comes to
    understanding Cinema

America voted and put a GAY guy wearing makeup in the top 2....why can't the gay community see that? No....there always needs to be a reason to bitch and complain and look to start a fight. FOCUS on the good guys...come on.

As for Kris, he's the whole package....incredible voice, super sweet guy, plays guitar, plays piano, easy on the eyes. He's really got that pop star quality. He will sell. Adam can sing, sure, and hopefully he'll do so on broadway. The kid should be in theater.

Yah man.. i'd have to agree... although Brokeback Mountain was a good film, Crash was an equally good film. and while you may want to argue that brokeback was critical to the gay world and acceptance/tolerance (and it is)... it is only one topic.... Crash's ability to deal with MANY people's stories and how they entertwine along with MANY themes is what won it the 'Best Picture' nod.
The amazing thing about Brokeaback was about how well it was filmed i.e. 'cinematography'. The story was great yes, but the reason it got so much acclaim (outside the gay world) was how it looked visually, however it did feel like it dragged on a bit.

For the record i enjoyed both movies very much, and would have been glad if either had one.

As for American Idol... Adam should have won it... their last night of performances Kris screwed up on his song he sang that was written by one of the judges... if you have it saved, go back and look at that song... for a brief second he voice gets a bit quieter and he even pulls the mic away from his mouth (but keeps his mouth moving to appear as if he's still singing). he was obviously screwing up and im not a fan of that show but Adam should have won on that factor alone.

It's a popularity contest, and Kris was more favored by the teenage girls. What's the problem here? Just because someone likes a straight guy better than a gay guy doesn't mean they are homophobic. We need to remember people shouldn't deny us our rights, but they are allowed to dislike us. We also need to remember that there are a lot more straight people than gay people, and that those people have just as much right to have their own opinions and preferences as we do. The simple fact is that not everyone, even gays, likes a flamboyant gay personality like Adam. We need to get out of this mindset that everyone should either like every gay or we brand them as homophobes, because then we are just as bigoted and intolerant as those we hate for the same reason.

    I will second that one!

I myself a pure homosexual, don't agree with all things gay. But this not not make one homophobic, or self loathing either!

I voted for Kris because his vocal and instumental ability appeal to me. Do I like Adam? Yes. Several of his performances blew me away (1st mad world performance and Ring of Fire). It really is very simple. I believe most of gaydom helped Kris to win, not because Adam was flamboyant and not because Kris was a better singer. They, along with tens of thousands of teenaged girls, looked at Kris's hotness factor and they would much rather go out with Kris (even though he is married) than Adam (even though is single). QUite simple when you think about.

I've never watched an entire show, but isn't it pretty commonplace for the person who wins second to do better financially?

I only followed this season cuz Adam wore lots of my friend's clothes.

Not only second, but in the case of Chris Daughtry for example -- in the top 13 I think. Besides Clarkson, Underwood, I don't really know any of the other winners. Sad to say, but I think Kris will be one of them.

I don't know about you but I think Adam Lambert is smokin' hot.
