Should I restore this fun 69 GMC truck? I mean it could look hot!

Keep it as is...or sell it?

What do you think? What would you do if it was yours?

Hot items here in Arizona.....any ideas on what color I should paint it if I do keep it.....?

I know how to make this one hot truck...but more ideas would be cool!

That's a hot bit of Americana. Keep it and paint it black.

You need Beaux for proper advice.

I don't like long bed trucks, particularly if it's going to be a project/show car.

If you do keep it, paint it red. Fire engine red. icon_cool.gif

Dump the diamond plate rear bumper and get an original one.

Yeah...I am not a long bed truck fan either. But hey, I paid only 1,500.00 for it so I had to get it.

I did have a 69 Chevrolet short bed truck. I painted it candy apple red with a white top and white spoke rims...It was one sweet truck...

These trucks seem to beg for RED!!

'm talking about the lower half of the body, below the detail.. I've seen them cars as original show cars, the white top makes sense until you walk up to it and there is no real natural end point for the white, it always looked unfinished like that to me.

You guys in AZ are so lucky.
That thing would be a rusty mess here in the mid-Atlantic...beyond restoration potential.
Yours looks like it's in great shape.
And I'd kill for an 8' bed...these days dealers don't even stock those 'cause everybody wants poseur trucks as sedan replacements (IE: crew cabs for the family).

I agree with red...something about a red truck has me reaching for my checkbook.
What are you planning to do with it?

RU gonna slam it, like this?
    0710ct_01_z+1969_gmc_pickup+.jpg

Or keep it as a gorgeous original like this?

My uncle has one of those old GMC pickup trucks. And it's HUUUGE. His is a uniform sky blue.

I'd suggest painting it like the second pic Beaux posted tho. Way cooler.

It has a green interior and other green dash and console. So I am thinking or doing the exterior in something modern and keep it green. Like a deep lime metallic green-solid and a new sleek rear chrome bumper...I think I am going to keep it and not sell it. Just another fun car to have in my fleet of historic vehicles.

I agree with the two-tone idea, light green on top and deep olive green on the body, to go with the interior. In Arizona, black would just turn it into an oven, and red could attract cops.

    Have fun with it!

Someone as goodlooking as you driving it is the best alteration that truck could ask for. icon_biggrin.gif I think you should keep it and restore it to look like it did in 69.

    I hate late '60s and '70s designs.

    Sell it.

    My first comment is:
how many damn names do you go by?

    My second comment is:
Original! Never fails to keep the body/paint interior as close to original as possible. Drive-train you can trick any way you like.
And for God's sake {and the rest of us classic lovers} DON'T SLAM IT! icon_rolleyes.gif
That ...and jacking one up where you need a 6ft ladder to reach the doorhandles....indicate a lack of a normal sized penis.!
