I know that chocolate milk is a pretty good post-workout drink. The problem is that I'm lactose intolerant. I drink Lactaid and the stores in my area don't carry the Chocolate Lactaid. So I wanted to find out, does adding Ovaltine powder to Lactaid make a good alternative to regular chocolate milk? Thanks for any feedback!

Chocolate milk works because of the protein carbohydrate combination. The protein and the carbohydrate can be taken seperately. Milk is providing most of the protein. The chocolate is providing a lot of the carbs.
Chocolate milk is made with low fat milk. Lactaid is low fat milk
You can drink Lactaid and eat pieces of chocolate

As a health food, dark chocolate has it all over milk chocolate. You need at least 70% cocoa to reap all the benefits of the antioxidants
There is research showing that post-exercise dark chocolate is a great way recover from the inflammation and other oxidative damage to muscles after long periods of exercise. I know that some martial arts clubs give their members pieces of dark chocolate after a workout for this reason.
I use dark chocolate(85% cocoa) because the antioxidants have been shown to lower blood pressure.
Lindt brand dark chocolate (85% cocoa) is available at the Walmart I shop at.

Maybe adding your own chocolate is better... can we trust the quality of chocolate in big name brands? I would rather have something closer to pure dark chocolate than a brand with a fraction of cocoa powder and palm oil.
