ok i was watching queer as folk marathon last night on logo. I love the character brian kinney and i feel so bad for doing so as he is everything that my very first boyfriend was like. And i felt sympathetic towards justin as i know what he must be feeling. I myself spent 3 years convincing myself that i was worth something to an individual.

my question is....have you ever been involved with a personality such as the character brian kinney and how did you manage to muster up the strength to get away from him.

pain is one of natures best motivators/demotivators.

Aside from that though, I have to say after watching the whole series that the Brian character also played a positive role in that he always had the strength to do what was necessary. Also the Justin character seemed to become a more bold and independent person having known Brian. Ironically it was that lesson for Brian that ultimately helped Justin get out on his own.

We watched that show for awhile, but that Brian character was so emotionally abusive it was a complete turn-off.

We have both had experiences with men like that. In my case that behaviour made leaving and not looking back terribly terribly easy.
