It would be a mistake for any military guy to come into this thread and say "Yea, it's difficult. I have a boner all the time and it's affecting not only my morale, but the morale of my entire unit. I really wish they were more stringent with this don't ask don't tell thing. I think I made a huge mistake, enlisting, sexually obsessed poofter that I am." - If that's what you were looking for. Ready to go before Congress?

I was in a military back in 1996. I know what you mean. You are surrounded by guys . In the morning , some of them will only have boxer on with hard on, sticking out. I can make out the outline of their dick. When we take a shower we will be in brief. Me and the platton have swim in waterfall and river half naked.

I have a major crush on my sargent, (despite he keep bullying me). Most of the guys are well built , with trim waist and very masculine.

The temptation is great, but what can you do. It like a kid in a candy store , you can look but cannot touch.

I am more interested in the experiences of gay members of the military in countries other than the US.

    Difficult? Yes and no.

Most gay guys that run off and join the Marines are prepared for the consequences of that decision. It means going undercover, and I for one was fully prepared to make that sacrifice. When the time came that I couldn't take it anymore, I allowed myself to get caught and was shown the door. I have no regrets, and still wish I could still be in uniform. The time will come when kids won't have to make that Sophie's Choice, but it was the right thing for me to do at the time, and I am a better person for it...
