It is all over the news that Adam Lambert is being considered to be the new lead singer of the group Queen. This from Entertainment Weekly---

    http://music-mix.ew.com/2009/05/adam-lambert-to.html

If you were him would you take the gig?

I think it would be a mistake... he needs to develop his own "thing" in my humble opinion.

    What do you think?

I agree... he can be way to successful on his own... and he needs the creative freedom to do his own style and variations

queen should be allowed to rest, its over, its done.. its like inxs, grand band in its day, but totally unwilling to give it up.. I mean, come on, yes its said but its time to put inxs to bed and develop something new.

Would he be allowed to even if he wanted to? Doesn't the American Idol people have him on a strict contract? I think Adam could still do far better on his own. I prefer Kris's style of music anyway.

I agree TuscanGrad... Kris was definitely my man lol

but I don't think Adam is under contract because he didnt win... so he is free to do whatever (im pretty sure)

I think he should tour with them in US and Europe, then go his own way. I'd never look that gift horse in the mouth. He's a perfect match with them.

The Steve Perry sound-alike who's touring with Journey right now is selling out stadiums.

Can't see it. Even Paul Rodgers was a disappointment. Queen w/o Freddie Mercury is like alcohol free beer. Why bother? As great as Adam is, he doesn't really have the feet to fill Freddie's shoes and if you can't even match perfection, you certainly won't surpass it.

I agree, but I believe he is at least under contract to AM Idol for the forthcoming Idol tour. Also, we don't know what other offers he may have on the table. Rumor also has it that he has been offered a top notch recording contract.

I think it would be a good opportunity to do it for a while, learn some things, maybe write some songs and then move on and do his own thing. He can sing amazingly and hit the same notes as Freddy but he will never be Freddy (he might get as good). Plus, I want to hear him sing "Hammer to Fall"

Thank you American Idol for giving us Kelly Clarkson. We owe you. But please stop now.

I'm going to see them regardless of the Filipino YouTube "star" being their Perry wannabe of the moment. I could listen to Journey forever. icon_biggrin.gif

Are you kidding they are ALL still around!

My neighbor around the corner was the drummer for "38 special"..remember them? "Hold on Loosely". They still tour.

They never die. And when band members die they replace them with others.

Like the SUPREMES after Diana Ross.......

Yea, I think he would be a great front man for Queen, but not as good as George Micheal would have been (remember the freddie mercury tribute concert where he did Somebody to Love?). I also think Adam should have a band behind him. I don't think he will last as a solo act.
