I know it's not the best idea to eat at night, but are there any good, healthy foods to eat at night that would make you gain fat? I hear eating protein at night is ok. Would it be ok to eat oatmeal at night with a little cinnamon and brown sugar? I heard it sticks to your stomach so it takes longer to digest.

carrots and salsa, a bowl of fresh berries, some raw veggies.

If you must have oatmeal probably sweetening it with honey is better than brown sugar. Honey and cinnamon together have good health benefits.

I'm terrible with late night munchies though.

Why would you think it's bad to eat at night? Your body needs nutrients then, too.

I'm not saying run out and eat a huge meal, but it's OK to eat some snacks if you're hungry.

Stick to deli meats, low fat cheeses, cottage cheese, chicken....

Because your metabolism slows down at night, which means you can gain fat. That's why

What matters is the total amount of calories you consume over time---days, weeks, months. Your metabolism is always working. If you're combing a weight loss program with a good diet, there's no reason you shouldn't eat before bed. You're body is repairing itself during the night, it needs nutrients.

I'm not saying eat a pizza late at night, after all, you are trying to lose weight. You should already be stocked up on healthy foods.

It was an old wives tale that you shouldn't eat before bed, but I've consulted plenty of people who disagree with it. Your body burns as much, if not more calories while sleeping, as I understand it.
