    From the article:
    cat_wings.widec.jpg
    "While some think the bony limbs may be a mutation of some kind — or even a Siamese twin growing inside the cat — others speculate it's a genetic change perhaps caused by chemicals ingested by the kitty's mother while she was pregnant."

    It's def not Siamese, so maybe it's all that yummy melamine.

    Beat me to it, too. I had downloaded that pic, was thinking how to use it when I saw this thread. Yeah, I wonder how much China's pollution problems have to do with this?

    These will be the most sought after cats in the US soon, I'm sure.

    i'd sure like to know what type of grooming habits could have caused wings to sprout from a cat's back.

    It is at this point that I mention that if it is "a genetic change caused by chemicals that the kitty's mother ingested while she was pregnant"...that is a "mutation of some kind".

    A shape with lion body and the head of a man,
    A gaze blank and pitiless as the sun,
    Is moving its slow thighs, while all about it
    Wind shadows of the indignant desert birds.

    Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
    Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
    The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
    The ceremony of innocence is drowned
