I recently got an email forwarded from my dad from my 2nd cousin (i think, he's my mom's cousin) of a family tree of my mom's mom's family. THe family tree goes all the way back to a man named John Burtnyk, my great great great grandfather I believe. He lived in 1848 in the Ukraine. We have some pictures on a wall at my house of all sorts of relatives. I have a picture of my grandma when she was a baby, sitting on my great great grandmother, Catherine, and behind her is my great grandmother, Mary, and her sister who I don't know the name of. I don't know much about this family but I know Catherine had moved in the early 1900's from Ukraine to Canada.

On my mom's dad's side, I know a bit about them. My grandpa comes from a wealthy Mexican family, a great great grandpa and his brother were both governors of Chiapas (southern Mexico). My great great grandpa was named Ramon, and his brother Emilio. I have two pictures of Ramon when he was young, and in his 70's (I think he was 75 in this picture I have of him). Emilio has his own wikipedia page which is interesting lol.

I wish my grandpa was still alive, he died when I was about 10. I want to ask him so many questions on how he grew up and his family lol. What do you know about your distant families??

Your mom's cousin is your first cousin, once removed.
