    From The Associated Press
NEW YORK – After keeping his private life out of the spotlight for years, David Hyde Pierce has announced his marriage to longtime partner Brian Hargrove.

The former "Frasier" star spoke candidly in an appearance on ABC's "The View." Wearing a wedding band, Hyde Pierce revealed they tied the knot "very quietly" in California on Oct. 24.

The actor and Hargrove, a producer, are still legally wed despite the California Supreme Court's decision Tuesday to uphold Proposition 8. The gay-marriage ban was approved by voters in November, stopping legal nuptials going forward.

Angered by the ruling, Hyde Pierce said Thursday: "It's like, `Oh great, we made the cut.'"

He called it a "very odd thing" that strangers have a vote on his private decision to marry.

That's awesome that he came out and said it. Good for him! He and Daphne never seemed quite right.

I thought he was the funniest thing in a very funny show.

It was pretty obvious he was gay, but yes I'm glad he has come out. The more the merrier.

I'm not sure he was really in the closet. I remember seeing him at some award shows with a male companion. Like Neil Patrick Harris, he somehow managed to live his life pretty openly without having it become tabloid fodder.

I had always suspected he was. Dan Butler the guy who played the obnoxiously macho misogynistic straight sportscaster, Bulldog on the show has always been openly gay. John Mahoney who played the father, Martin was also openly gay. Rumors concerning Moose the dog who played Eddie have yet to be substantiated.

David Hyde Pierce did come out as gay a long time ago when he came forward about being in a very abusive relationship. This article is mainly about his stint on the view and coming forward as gay and married.

Pierce has been out for awhile. This isn't news to many of us.

And, yes, "Doogie" is gay. He's a regular in the NYC scene. Nice as can be.

I do kinda feel bad for the guy though. Feeling he had to come out against that stupid ruling in a matter that he felt was so private. Good to see that he isn't just willing to be silent when our community's needs are going unheard.
