OP - glad u and thousands of others have a reprieve. But i just don't get throwing tax payers money into a dieing industry. GM and the rest of the big 3 had the biggest market in the world on a silver platter for decades - and they successfully squandered that and allowed foreign auto makers to gradually erode their market share to the point where they are where they are today. And now the taxpayer is rewarding this by bailing them out? It's like pumping blood into a dieing patient, it buys a little time, keeps them on life support and only prolongs the inevitable.

ok, stepping down from my little podium, rant complete!

The tax rebates, incentives etc that states have given the so called foreign car companies to set up shop in the US are equally huge. and part of the problem. Craziness is nothing new. Kinda like the government subsidizing tobacco farmers and then taxing the tobacco that id grown then spending zillions on anti smoking campaigns.

government motors, with washington politicans calling the shots, will become amtrack on tires.

You really are a fucking moron. The UAW is the reason you have an 8 hour day, a 5-day workweek, paid vacation, and healthcare. You know absolutely nothing about any subject you open your mouth about, including this one. Do us all a favor and hang out at freerepublic.com with the other filth.
they all think they get benefits because of their college diploma, excellence in the interview process and their own magnetic personalities! icon_lol.gificon_lol.gif

GM was the problem because they told us that tony, ultra fuel efficient cars were boring. The civilized world drives these cars, and imagines to do so without napping behind the wheel. GM was the one that lobbied to declassify SUV's from commercial to passenger vehicles. THANKS! GM was the one that would buy profitable commuter rail lines just to shut them down. THANKS! GM was the one that has spent millions of dollars lobbying our government to limit mass transit for decades. THANKS!

Fuck GM. I am glad they are gone. I just hope that the government uses this new resource to build high speed rail (something Japan has had for 50 years but we have yet to build one) build more mass transit, and start building the cars we should be driving instead of the cars GM has told us we should be driving.
