This kind of thing really helps the gay community gain credibility......

well, if we want to be seen as equals, we have to show the bad with the good. There are lots of domestic violence cases in the world.

LOL....that's just too funny for me!

But then again, with there always being so many more man/woman disputes on the freeways, is it possible the only reason they showed this tape was simply because it involved two boys to begin with?

I'm with you on that one Cas, equality means being accepted for all our good and bad points. We are as diverse a group of people as any other (just look at the members on RJ) and we're not always going to fall into a Will & Grace stereotype.

We will only be fully beyond being seen as different when people say "oh, look at those boyfriends fighting on the highway" rather than "look at those two gay boys fighting on the highway"...if you get what I'm trying to say.

Link to a more detailed story: http://www.kpho.com/news/14587655/detail.html#

They are young guys, one is 18 and the other is underage. Oh young gays these days, so dramatic. icon_smile.gif

So sad, the reactions to this one. Domestic violence is a serious issue, not something to be taken lightly or made a joke of.

I completely agree with ya, Nude. The fact that the guy was "trying to commit suicide" sends chills down my spine.

I don't think it reflects anything on the gay community. Domestic violence is terrible whatever the sexuality of those involved.

I don't think it has much to do with them being so called boyfriends at all...
and everything to do with domestic violence and attempted suicide

I wonder what the fight was about... perhaps one of them was trying to commit suicide and the other was keeping him from doing it, but probably by force. I don't know for certain as the video is grainy and the news report didn't mention much.

This is truly disturbing. It is so under-reported in our community. These two men could have not only gotten themselves killed but also put in jeopardy the lives of every motorist on the expressway.

There is an article in the Times online newspaper. It the June 9, 2007.

"Domestic abuse among gay couples is ‘hidden menace’ ".

It is really worth reading. I tried to cut and paste the link.

My computer is giving me FEVER!

For those of you who found humor in this, it’s not funny to those of us who either lived through or witness someone living through.

I knew several men whose lover’s was beating the CRAP out of them just on GP!
These are successful and educated men with advance degrees.

They were arrested on domestic violence charges. That might have been the only, or the strongest, charge the police could make. It could very well be that one was trying to commit suicide and the other trying to prevent him. Domestic violence might actually have played no role here. Domestic violence doesn't involve one trying to save the other, usually it's humiliate, inflict pain, take control, dominate, terrorize, but never save.

    McGay,

That may very well be true. The fact that for whateverr reason once the authorities got on the scene and when their relationship status was made clear and blows were exchange in the eyes of the blow they had no choice but arrest them for domestic abuse. That may very well change and all charges may be dropped once all of the facts are sorted out.
The charges may become reckless endgerment.
From the poor quality of the video it's diffcult to tell who was trying to save whom.

They will both be charged with something giving the facty they were on the interstate and they could have could a MAJOR pile up.

I can only hope that they both get the assistance that they need. If somone wants to kill themselves, trust no amount of therapy will stop from committing that act.icon_biggrin.gif
