We're planning a trip to Spain later this summer and I'm just wondering if anyone who has been to the places we're considering can offer some advice.

I've been to Barcelona and know that I want to go back there. We're also planning to spend a couple of days in Sitges, which I hear is beautiful. Then we're torn between whether to add a third stop (either Madrid or Amsterdam) or just spend more time in Barcelona/Sitges. We only have 9 days for the trip so I don't want to try to cram too much in and not be able to enjoy.

Any thoughts/advice will be much appreciated. Thanks!!

It really depends on how hyper you enjoy being and whether you intend to go back. If you were going with me, it would just be Barna and Sitges icon_wink.gif

Yeah, I definitely want to relax and enjoy, but at the same time I feel like we're flying around the world and I want to see as much as I can while we're there...but you're probably right. icon_neutral.gif

well you´re American and you´ve got 9 days: that´s plenty of time to "do" Europe and have 3-4 days at the beach.

Madrid was not as exciting as Barcelona, but the museums are top notch, Prado, Reina Sofia and Thyssen. I was just in Amsterdam a couple of weeks ago, really enjoyed it, much more laid back and casual, although the city is not as pedestrian friendly as Barcelona.

I found Sitges to be a nice day trip out from Barcelona, not sure I would pack up and move everything there for just a couple of days, the train was very easy to navigate.

I'd be happy to answer any questions you have.

I have been to Barcelona many times and it is a great place

    I've been to Sitges too
and it's a lot of fun but it's not a place to spend more than two days three days max
    It's a like a very beachy Provincetown
    Be careful of hotels there
some of them are very touristy and can be expensive and stay away from the main square
It gets VERY noisy at night and you'll have drunks keeping you up until like 4-5am icon_eek.gif

If you do Barcelona and/or Madrid, a buddy was just telling me about the Hotel Urban which sounded unique.

The hotel even displays genuine art in the rooms....
    He says it's uber gay.
