I think you were refering to the "teen suicide on myspace" with your link, Caslon (always have a variety of clips to choose from). I've heard about teenage bullying on myspace and how parents, counselors and others are coping with it. Kind of hard to imagine, but these things are very real in todays society.

If this is the woman who fucked with the mind of a 13 year girl leading her to suicide - I've read it and wept over it.
If no actual crime has been committed here, then surely a moral failing of the most heinous kind exists in this woman.

Like everyone I had my own demons to overcome in my youth - and some haunt me yet - and to have an adult play on those to a fatal end is tantamount to torture-murder.

The true tragedy is that a lonely little girl sought refuge in something that was dangerous and not real...
however sick and twisted this neighbor woman was this little girl still fell through the cracks and people weren't able to see the signs before it was too late
    ...very sad story

It isn't tragic (as tragedy has a specific components), but it is pathetic and vile.

For what they did, the neighbors should not permitted to parent. Goodness knows, the US (and our species) has no need for the potential screw-ups they may do when raising their current child / children.

I can certainly understand the desire to put those two neighbors out of everyone's misery, though their actions do not any capital punishment; it warrants imprisonment for some time.

As to what kind of crime it is, I'd say that they enabled her suicide and that they effectively gaslighted Megan (Dictionary.com under Webster notation, Wikipedia).

MySpace could, potentially, charge them with fraud if they misrepresented themselves when they registered "Josh" (I do not recall MySpace's terms of use).
