Obama in trouble for swatting fly during interview

PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) is complaining that President Obama shouldn't have killed a fly that was buzzing around him during a White House TV interview. They said he should have used a special fly trap instead, and released the live insect outside.

I hate cruelty to animals, and would like to see stronger laws in some jurisdictions. But this kind of nonsense is why PETA is ridiculed by many, and loses it's effectiveness to reduce the incidence of real abuses against animals.

[BTW, I wanted to insert a YouTube clip here from the end of the original "Psycho" movie where Anthony Perkins says: "They'll see that I wouldn't hurt a fly." But apparently the Hitchcock estate keeps strong copyright control over the movie, and makes YouTube remove clips, except for legitimate movie review purposes]

A special "Fly Trap". Are you kidding me. PETA is getting out of control.
Flies are disgusting God knows what piece crap it took off from before it invaded the press conference.

I love animals, (I have a lot), and I don't like seeing people mistreat em, but this is ridiculous. Those people take it to the extreme, and care more about animals than humans, and this wasn't even an animal he killed, it was an insect, a PEST, they're lunatics.

I should find their HQ, and eat a huge burger in front of em while I'm riding a bull smacking its ass haha

I'll keep in mind their recommendations.... while I'm being bitten alive by mosquitoes in my backyard.. I'll get my "humane trap" so they can carefully be released later... and if they've "sucked me dry", so to speak, of blood..
    thats irrelevant.

And if they have diseases, thats no biggie either...

The thing that PETA does really well is get attention. A friend of a friend is an attorney for PETA and keeps me up to date on their shenanigans.

Next they'll be saying you can't create a swine flu vaccine. That's just a cruel way to stop the virus from living a happy life!

Haha! You know the sad part is they probably will. Next they'll start carrying brooms to sweep away microorganisms in front of them so they dont kill them while walking... wait... someone already does that.

Seriously, PETA goes way too far sometimes. The first time I ever heard about them there was some outrage about a bunch of PETA members dressed up as used tampons in public. I forget what their purpose was, I don't think it made any sense even when I knew why they did it.

As far as I'm concerned, with that artistic masterpiece, PETA can say or do whatever the hell it wants.

They actually suggested Ben & Jerry's use human breast milk to make their ice cream instead of cow's milk? That is high lunacy.

but flys are pest. People always say "shoo!" before they swat them, but flys aren't smart enough to listen. If left to their on devices, flys would crawl around on your eye.

Well, if you think about it are we not the only animals that drink other animals milk? Granted it does seem distasteful knowing another humans milk is in your shake. *yuck*

And on topic: Some people just are not fast enough to catch and release flies.

That is truely horrifying the man we trust and and was elected to the highest office in the land butchers an innocent fly on national television.

PETA have every right to be outraged

That's almost as bad as sending 5,000 American citizens to die fighting a needless war
