Wayne Besen said "The Democrats took our money, our votes and our volunteer hours and now they tell us to wait patiently, like good little gays. As far as I'm concerned, if the donkeys can't deliver now, they can kiss my ass. The Democrats run the show in Washington and if they will not act like a majority party, then they do not deserve to be one."

    What are your thoughts?

After what I heard US Rep. Barney Frank say to justify this, I can see the emergence of a new euphemism, that has all the meanings that Uncle Tom has for Blacks: an Uncle Barney.

Be someone who overlooks and excuses continued injustices against the GLBT community: you're an Uncle Barney.

Be the apology maker for the gay rights promise breakers: Uncle Barney.

Rationalize those who don't support gays: Uncle Barney.

Present yourself as a gay rights champion, then side with the opposition: Uncle Barney.

Be so self-deluded that you fail to realize your own victimization and those you represent: Uncle Barney

AF24 saidtoldja! you all got hosed!

You guys in the Peanut Gallery have no credibility on this issue. You'd have had us vote for McCain-Palin. Instead of debating the continuation of DOMA & DADT, we'd be fighting for our lives right now with an anti-gay Constitutional Amendment.

Give it a rest. You weren't right then, and you aren't right now. If you want to make your point, tell us who we should have voted for in November besides Obama, who would have been more gay friendly. The right-wing homophobe Palin?

Even if you didn't vote for him, YOU also got hosed, loser. icon_rolleyes.gif

P.S. Mark my words, the day that gay rights advances under Obama's watch I will clog your email with "toldja so!" junk comments.

We've often wondered what's wrong about US politics and now we know. It's AF24's attitude.

So AF24 who should they have voted for where they would not be 'hosed'?

Ok, the first thing that came to my mind was us needing a hero. I know, campy. But that is the honest truth so rather than drone on here, I will let Bonnie say it for me.

Stay with me here. Think of the burning house as our rights gone up in smoke. Thing of the 3 three circling cowboys as the religious right, the republican party and the turn coats of the democatic party. The chorus girls look more like a coven of witches, but think of them as Angels crying out. Think of the faceless guy dressed in white as the faceless hero yet to emerge.

    Am I disappointed? Yes

    Am I optimistic? Yes

Do I still support Obama? In a way, yes. Donations, no.

I have said it before that Civil Rights aren't exactly won at the Executive. But it sure doesn't hurt if it could!! He should be more articulate on how he intends to effect equal rights for the gay community. He has somewhat, but not to a satisfactory degree. I think things would be a lot better if the current DOMA brief his officials created were retracted and reframed in support of us. That needs to be done quickly if we're to see our advancement to equality begin.

They took your money, your votes and your time, and now they want deliver.

But you gave so blindly, with the hope you had a better chance, of them fulfilling your wish list. But I don't recall them promising too fulfill your wish list. Your vote was misplaced, they did not force you too vote, as voting is not compulsory in the USA. Now did they force you too give your time and money.

Gosh you live in Jesus land, and the democrats know as well as the Republicans did, that they can't act on this fast, as it will upset middle America.

Take responsibility for your actions, your vote may well of been misplaced, and your were not forced to vote the way you did. In fact I know from what I read here, many could not get to the voting polls quick enough, to cast your votes. you did this under you own will, and you were not forced to.

Maybe you should look at moving to a more advanced country like Canada.

matey, your words are heavy with the ice of casual spiteful cruelty. They could not vote for the Republicans.

Who would YOU have voted for?

I like the idea of Uncle Barney, but we need an equivalent to Uncle Ruckus to represent the gay neo-cons.

One was not being spitful at all, I was just talking from all the past threads one read here at RJ, before the election, and just after. I well remember the spiteful cruelty from gay democrats to the gay republicans.

OMG Mr Obama has not even had the top job for a year yet.

He has many things on his agenda, and I'm sure the Recession America gave the world, is at the top of his list, and many other people in the USA, (Jesus land) have wants too.

Sorry it's to late to complain. The gay democrats placed their vote willingly, now they have to deal with it.

Oh since voting is not compulsory in the USA. I'm not sure I would of voted at all, in the last election. But when I vote. I vote for who will be best for my country, and not who will give me my wants. I put the better of my country first.

The One doesn't understand the political process in this country. When you vote for a president, you not only vote for them, but for everyone they are going to appoint.

That means we would have seen more Scott Simpsons in the Justice Department - even if McCain himself could be considered a moderate on gay rights issues, and that would have been far more devastating.

I'm reserving any opinion until after a reasonable period of time has elapsed.
At this point I view some of this as whining and impatience.

Many in fact. But I do get less abuse from gay democrats now days.

But......as a pure homosexual, I have every right to have any political stand I wish to have on homosexual issues.

One of the most intelligent things I've read here at RJ, in recent days from a democrat.

What are "the collective you" waiting for? You will never change the minds of those who are hell bent. You can't wait for that... it won't happen. Laws will eventually pass someday??? I am able and capable of living life as I see fit without relying on a politician. But people are suffering. I know this. eh...

Okay kids. It's time for a Pattison/Matey 101 refresher course.

-His forum persona is a construct where he makes outrageous statements and claims for the purpose of riling up people.

-All of us who have talked to him in private e-mail, know that he doesn't actually write, spell or think like he does in the forums.

-He's playing a game and if you take him seriously he's won.

-I'm not sure exactly why he's created this character and is acting out through it for the sake of drawing attention to himself. All I know, is that people keep falling for it and keep engaging him. It's liked all those people that got duped into thinking any number of Sasha Cohen's characters are real. You should know better, people. Pattycakes isn't nearly so clever or convincing as Cohen.

    Quit taking the bait.

We've not used the ignore button at all so far.

Matey, we'll say this : we no longer believe you. Care-giver? The personality you display makes that a lie.

In fact, if we go by your posts over the last long while, it looks like your husbands got a very bad deal.

How is it we can go online as ourselves and you can't, if we're to believe you're better than the nastiness of your posts?

We've stood up for you, and at times against you - but politely.

    You're a true-blue phoney, Mister.
